Our Champion Harry Truman
By ABE KORCHAK
The people revere Franklin D.
That man of world renown
and God knows I would be the last
to take one jewel from his crown.
But what of Harry Truman
Who won all by himself
When the Democratic Donkeys
Tried to put him on the shelf.
So with no one to support him
Our champion took the floor
His fighting speech of acceptance
Knocked the hinges from the door.

to Arabs is. that they should ac-
cept the logical."
He said that he had not heard
of peace negotiations but that
."there might be personal contacts
to uncover facts concerning the
two belligerents." He added that
Israel needs peace more than the
Arabs but that Arabs are corn-
plaining over trends in the Pales-
tine war. He warned that if
Israel attacked again . the battle
would develop in full force even
if the Legion had to fight alone.
Abdullah admitted that Arabs
had suffered- defeats but attrib-
uted them to lack or realization
of the true situation. He said that
the attitude of the UN and the
big powers is important in peace
negotiations. -
Mr. Bilby reports that Col. Ab-
dullah El Tell, military com-
mander of Jerusalem, and Brig.
J. B. Glubb Pasha, British corn-
mander of the Arab Legion, con-
curred in Abdullah's belief that
peace should be achieved now but
that the Legion is capable of
withstanding any new outbreaks.
