MISS PEARL DEVENOW

Born and educated in Detroit,
and an education graduate of the
University of Michigan, Miss
Devenow decided, after two years
of teaching, that she would be-
come a lawyer, and promptly en-
tered the Boston University Law
School. She passed her bar ex-
aminations two years ago.
A member of the board of the
Women's Division, she worked at
training volunteers, and integrat-
ing new workers during the last
campaign. When the Council of
Jewish Women wanted $10,000 for
its overseas' program, there was
no question but that Miss Deve-
now was the one to put it over.
Her activities read like a Who's
Who in Detroit communal circles.
In addition to being on the board
of the-Women's Division and the
Council of Jewish Women,• Where
she established and was president
of the Career Group, she is on
the membership committee of the
Founders Society of the Art In-
stitute, - and on the speakers' bu-
reau of the Community Chest.
She helped set up the first inter-
faith meeting of business and pro-
fessional people, taught plant pro-
tection with the Office of Civilian
-Defense. during the war, and is
active in Hadassah and ORT.

The Sisterhood is planning a

Mrs: Abe Zamek, Mrs. James Ro-
senthal will speak.

The Business Men's Group of
the Los Angeles Sanatorium will
hold its next dinner meeting
Thursday, Dec. 2, 6:30 p.m., at
Furniture Club in the Detroiter
Hotel, after which time they will
again resume the regular weekly
meetings for the duration of the
drive.
The goal for $150,000 which has
been allocated to this group is
gaining momentum.
The Detroit Auxiliary of the

Los Angeles Sanatorium is bring-
ing the world-renowned Cantor
Pinchik to Detroit Dec. 15, for-
a concert, supported by a cast
of outstanding artists. Proceeds
of the affair, to be held at North-
west Hebrew Congregation, will
be utilized for the building fund
as part of the auxiliary's efforts .
