Former Detroiter's Songs
Are Placed on Sale Here

Friday, November 12, 1948

NEW YORK, (JTA) Adults
'n Jerusalem have lost an aver-
age of 12 pounds since the out-
break of fighting in Palestine fol-
lowing the declaration of Israeli
statehood, Dr. Eli Davis, deputy
director for the Hadassah Medi-/
cal Organization in Israel, re-
ported here.
The Hadassah health officer
said that typhoid has been wiped
out almost completely among the
Jewish population. He could ex-
plain this only by the simple
fact of separation from Arab foci
of infection. He added that Ha-
dassah operated 52 health wel-
fare stations in Israel, and had
opened a 50-bed rehabilitation
center in Jerusalem. The organ-
ization is also preparing to open
an additional 70-bed general hos-
pital in Jerusalem, he added.

Sheet music of songs by Clara
Sharfman of Toledo, former De-
troiter, have been placed on sale
at the Crowley-Milner Co. and
will soon be available at other
music counters.
The songs, "Please Don't Wake
Me from My Lovely Dreams,"
and "When the Cotton Blossoms
Bloom in Georgia" will be play-
ed by orchestras at the Penob-
scot Club and the London Chop
House on request.
