The United Hebrew Schools of
Detroit are now conducting their
annual membership enrollment,
the object of which is to enlist
many more friends in the cause
of Jewish education.
Hundreds of persons have re-
sponded to the call of the mem-
bership committee and have been
enrolled in the schools.
Abe Kasle, president of the
schools, in a recent statement
said: "We invite you to join with
us who are endeavoring to main-
tain and develop the system of
schools known as the United He-
brew Schools, In modern school
buildings, under able teachers,
our growing youths are molded
into conscious and understanding
Jews. My appeal is for something
more than a gift. We need your
membership to lend us strength
and encouragement. Send in your
dues to the United .Hebrew
Schools, 13226 Lawton."
The membership committee is
headed by Samuel Schwartz, and
includes Joseph Block, Ira G.
Kaufman, Charles Robinson, Mor-
ris Fishman, Nathan Yaffa and
Harry Cohen.

As the city grew in area and
population and branches were
erected in various sections of the
city, the need for bus service to
the new schools increased. At
present, buses
are provided for
the Phi ladel-
phia-Byron,
Park side and
Beth Aaron
Schools.

scope of its work was broadened
to include social and educational
programs held four times a year.
The last program was dedicated
to the 22nd annual education
month, and had as its theme:
"The integration of the secular
and the Jewish education of the
Jewish child."
Source of income of the Wo-
man's Auxiliary is the dues paid
by the members and voluntary
contributions made by members
and friends to the Remembrance
Fund. The auxiliary has an open
membership drive at all times.
Plans have been announced for
the 25th anniversary dinner
which will be held Dec. 7, at
Shaarey Zedek. Not only do we
wish to commemorate 25 years of
service in the Jewish community,
but we want to extend to all a
cordial invitation to join us in
a memorable evening for all Jew-
ish men and women.
