Program Announced
For Bnai BrHh Women's
Affair on November 22

Mrs. Sol Bloom is editor of the
tabloid which is being prepared
for the annual affair, sponsored by
the Greater Detroit .Bnai Brith
Women's Council, which will cul-
minate with a program on Nov.
22 at 1:30 p.m., in the main audi-
torium of the Masonic Temple.
Mesdames Samuel Gutterman
and Kalman Bruss, chairman and
co-chairman of arrangements, an-
nounce that Tito Guizar has
changed his concert set-up and
that instead. of a small orchestra,
he will present the following: Vin-
cent De Sola, conceit pianist; Mar-
jorie Harper, composer and pian-
ist; Carla and Fernando, .famous
Mexican dance team, and Maria
Teresa Fonseca, noted Mexican
soprano.
Mrs. Gerald Ggldberg, Council
president, invites the cooperation
of the entire community in this
affair.
Brandeis Lodge Plans
Membership Campaign
Louis D. Brandeis Lodge of
Bnai Brith held a victory cele-
bration Oct. 26 as the first Bnai
Brith lodge • to reach its quota
for the Aid-to-Israel drive. Al-
bert Berger, chairman of the
drive committee, was honored by
the lodge for his work.
Robert S. Rudman, chairman
of the membership drive, report-
ed that the drive to raise 50 mem-
bers in honor of Samuel Dubrin-
sky is progressing. He announced
that plans are being formulated
for a competitive membership
drive among the Brandeis bowl-
ers, the winning team to receive
a prize. All persons interested
in joining Brandeis lodge, may
write to the chairman at 2005

Honored on 45th Anniversary

MRS. PHILIP HANDLEMAN
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Handleman of Fullerton Abe., for more than
40 years residents of Detroit, were honored last Sunday evening
at a dinner at the Whittier Hotel on the occasion of their 45th
anniversary.
There were 35 members of their family and close friends at the
dinner; including their sons, Joseph and David of Detroit; Paul of
Cleveland and Moe of Chicago, and their daughter,, Mrs. Burton
J. (Sue) Wade of New York, their sons' wives (Moe is the only
unmarried one) and their son-in-law, Mr. Wade, and their elder
grandchildren. They have five grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Handleman were married in New York City Oct.
30, 1903, and came to Detroit shortly thereafter. Mr. Handleman
is secretary-treasurer of Handleman Drug Co.
Mr. Handleman was born in 1875 in Austria and came to the
United States at the age of 17. He made three trips to Europe as a
young man. '
Mrs. Handleman, the former Sarah Michaels, was born in
Russia in 1883. Like her husband, she was 17. when she came to
the United States.
The Handlemans have been members of Temple Beth El for
many years.
