FAVORED AN INDEPENDENT
JEWISH STATE IN PALESTINE
OVER

The position which, for over a decade,

Thdmas E. Dewey has taken in favor

of an independent Jewish State in Pal-

estine represents not only the desire

for a settlement in the interests of world

peace; it is again an indication of the

man's deep-down interest in fair play

and human justice.

'

ODAY...

MORE THAN EVER BEFORE
DEWEY URGES ACTION!

"There is no doubt as to who is the aggressor in Palestine.

The new Jewish State of Israel, officially recognized by

our Government, has cooperated from the beginning in
the endeavors for a peaceful solution.

"I

am convinced that the Palestine situation can and must

be solved through the peaceful machinery of the United

Nations. Having endorsed the partition of Palestine many

months ago, it has the obligation to stop a war in that
country.

If must recognize that the State of Israel deserves fair.

and sympathetic treatment as a member of the commun-
ity of free nations of the world.

°°The United States must exercise its leadership in the

United Nations to bring a just and lasting peace to Pales-
tine and to assure the continuance of the free State of
Israel."

"The rebirth of Israel is truly a tribute to the perseverance
of the Jewish people as to the sense of justice and fairness
of the free nations of the world ... An enlightened people

the world over will share your hopes for a favorable out-

come."
