tuberculous poor, and to this
humanitarian work has been
added its widely 'acclaimed serv-
ice for asthmatic and allergic
youngsters who have not re-
sponded to treatment in their
own communities.
To care for children from all
over the country, ground has
been broken for a new dormitory
building which will increase the
capacity of the home 35 per cent.
Many of the children in the

as hopeless, asthmatic invalids
but in the National Home for
Jewish Children at Denver,
thanks to the high and dry cli-
mate, ideal environment, the fin-
est- of care and medical and
psychiatric treatment, they are
now leading active, happy lives
of healthy children and will be
able to return to their parents as
revitalized, rehabilitated, normal
youngsters.
This unique child-care institu-
tion, the only one of its kind, de-
pends upon voluntary contribu-

humanitarian work. Mrs. Sidney

Rabbis Urge Ban on
`Oliver Twist' in U4 S.
NEW YORK, (JPS)—The New
York Board of Rabbis appealed
to Eric Johnston, president of
the Motion Picture Producers'
Association, to do "everything
possible" to keep the British film
"Oliver Twist" off U.S. screens
because of its "blatant anti-
Semitism." Replying, Mr. Johns:
ton said it would be "inappropriA
ate" to express any opinion be-
fore the film is submitted to the
Production Code Administration
for a certificate of approval.
American release of the British
motion picture "Oliver Twist"
will be delayed a year or longer,
it is reported from London in
Variety, leading .U. S. theatrical
publication.
"The film will be stalled until
world conditions, particularly the
Palestine crisis, quiet down," the
report said, revealing that the
Bnai Brith Anti-Defamation
League criticized the picture .be-
cause of its portrayal of Fagin,
Dne of the characters in the Dick-
ens novel, as a grotesque cari-
cature of a Jew.
Variety also carries a report
froM Toronto stating that the
Jewish Community Council
there lodged a protest against the
showing of Oliver Twist in Cana-
dian theaters. Following the pre-
miere of the film in a local movie,
the Toronto Globe and Mail criti•
eized the picture, declaring.
"While the producers point out
that Fagin is not necessarily a
Jew, and that the make-up is ac-
ciientally Jewish in appearance,
they have not explained , certain
little Jewish hand mannerisms,
