Honors Windsor Jew
For Civic Achievement

Eli C. Goldin, a long time work-
er for the Windsor Jewish Com-
munity Council, was recently
honored at the Assumption Col-
lege Alumni Awards ceremonies
in Windsor.
He was presented with a bronze
plaque, in recognition of his de-
votion to movements in the civic
interest. Goldin was the only lay-
man and the only Jew so hon-
ored.

Unveil Vienna Memorial
To Death March Martyrs

VIENNA, (JTA)—Kurt Lewin,
Israeli representative to Austria,
unveiled a memorial at the Jew-
ish cemetery, in Eisenerz-Styria
honoring the 3,000 . Hungarian
Jews .who were murdered during
the infamous death march from
Hungary to the Mauthausen con-
centration camp in Austria in
1945.

PVT. LEON STRACHER, who
died in action Aug. 18, 1944, at
the age of 20, in France, was re-
buried last week at Hebrew Me-
morial Park. He is survived by
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David
Stracher of Ewald Circle and a
brother, Howard.

NEW YORK, (JPS) — Silver,
Oriental rugs, porcelain and glass
from the stores of the IRO were
sold at auction inaugurating the
second sale of stolen loot recov-
ered from Nazi caches. Tlie total
receipts so far have come to
$107,535.
