President Truman Sends New Year
Message to Detroit, State Jewry

President Harry S. Truman has sent the following New
Year message to the Jews of Detroit and the entire state of
Michigan through The Jewish News:
"I extend cordial greetings to
my fellow Americans
of the Jewish faith on this anniversary of the commencement
of the New Year.
"I am confident that you will vigorously play your part
in solving the many problems which confront us. Let us pray
that our continued efforts to establish a peaceful world will
meet with an increasing measure of success."

Glasser to Address'
DSG Dinner Monday

Harold Glasser, director of the
Council of Federations and Wel-
fare Funds' overseas studies,. who
recently returned from a-tour •of
DP camps and the State of Israel,
will address the Detroit Service
Group at a dinner at the Jewish
Center at 6:15 p. m. Monday,
Sept. 27.
The agenda of this meeting, in
addition to Mr. Glasser's address,
will include a report on the 1948
Allied Jewish Campaign, a re-
pert on collections, recommenda-
tions for a change in he by-laws
to read "officers and directors
shall be chosen to serve for two
years or until their successors
are selected," and recommenda-
tions on appointment of repre-
sentatives to the board by the
trades and professional division.
