Beth Shmuel Synagogue Dedication
Sunday; Prominent Guests to Speak
Bnai Moshe Families
To Hear Humorist
Rabbi Mordecai Aaron Kaplan
of Brooklyn, N. Y., a delegation
from Agudath Admorim of New
York, Cantor Isaac Katz, Grand
Rabbi Joseph Rabinowitz and
prominent local rabbis and lay
leaders will participate in the
dedication of the new synagogue
building of Congregation Beth
Shmuel, on the corner of Dexter
and Buena Vista, at 2 p.m. Sun-
day, Sept. 19.
Rabbi Rabinowitz, founder of
the synagogue which was named
in tribute to his grandfather, an-
nounced this week that the pro-

lies is being sponsored by the
Men's Club and Sisterhood of the
congregation at 8:30 p. m. Tues-
day, Sept. 21.
Ben Basenko of New York in-
terpreter of Yiddish humor and
folklore and star of the Yiddish
and English stage, will be guest
artists. He has a rich repertoire
of humorous monologues on
American Jewish life, satires and
parodies on Jewish life of the
past generation in Yiddish and
English and Palestinian and oth-
er Jewish folk songs.
Refreshments will be served.
Admission is free.
Services in
cession of automobiles and a
march accompanying the transfer
of the Sifre Torah from the old
synagogue at 1736 Blaine to the
new house of worship will start
at 1 p.m., preceding the formal
dedication. A band of music will
accompany the marchers.
The Sifre Torah will be car-
ried by leaders of the congrega-
tion under a large canopy. At the
dedication service, Cantor Katz
will be accompanied by a choir
in rendering appropriate musical
selections.

CONGREGATION EMANUEL, Grand Rapids: Rabbi Harry Esrig
will preach Friday, Sept. 17, 8:15 p. m., on the subject "Henry
Ford: A Study in Myths."
TEMPLE ISRAEL, Lecture Hall, Detroit Institute of Arts, Friday,
Sept. 17, 8:30 p. in.: Rabbi Leon Fram will preach on "Jewish
Ethics." Michael Hartz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Hartz, will
celebrate his Bar Mitzvah, and his parents will be hosts at the
social hour. At the service on Sept. 24, Rabbi Fram will speak
on "The Legacy of Moses." Richard David Budson, son of Dr.
and Mrs. Daniel Budson, will be Bar Mitzvah.
BNAI MOSHE: Evening services at 6:45 Friday, a late service at 8:15
and a reception following to welcome Rabbi and Mrs. Moses
Lehrman. Cantor David Katzman will conduct the service.
Rabbi Lehrman will speak on "The Position of Jewish Leader-
ship." Saturday morning worship at 9. David Friedman and
Robert Silverman will celebrate their Bar Mitzvahs. Rabbi
Lehrman's topic will be "Remember Amalek."
