World Zionist Congress
In Israel Neit Summer

. , TEL AVIV, (JTA). — The
fo'rthcoming World Zionist Con-
gress will be held in Israel in
June, 1949. Zionist Actions Com-
mittee, which is to decide the
time and place of the Congress,
was holding its final meetings.
A resolution that all Zionist
funds should be merged was de-
feated by the budgetary commit-
tee of the Actions Committee. It
was agreed to continue Zionist
fund-raising along the same lines
as are now in existence in the
United States. The resolution sug-
gesting the merger of funds was
opposed by Eliezer Kaplan, Is-
raeli Minister of Finance.

"Community Trial" in Mexico
For Not Giving to Relief
MEXICO CITY (JTA) — Ten
members of the Jewish com-
munity were placed on "trial" be-
fore a Jewish Community Court
for not contributing to the United
Jewish Campaign in proportion
to their means. Nine of the "de-
fendants" immediately promised
to make the contributions ex-
pected of them.

group of 10 Jews will probably
be called off in view of the effect
