Beth El's School
Opens Sept. 18-19

A staff of 40 teachers will be
on hand to greet a large enroll-
ment of children at the opening
sessions of the Beth El Religious
School on Saturday - and Sunday,
Sept. 18 and 19.
Of this enrollment, 300 are
expected to be in the Primary
Department 4 and 5 year old
kindergartens, grades 1 and 2)
which meets on Sunday at 9:45
a. m. This department aims to
identify children positively with
Jewish life and is well equipped
with progressive audio-visual
aids and most recent Jewish
books for children.
A heavy enrollment is expected
in the Junior High Department,
meeting on Saturday at 9:30 a. m.,
and in the Intermediate and High
School Departments, which meet
Sunday at 9:45 and 10 a. m.
respectively.
Beth El's High. School (grades
10, 11, 12) is open to all young
people of high school age. The
school offers a full program of
religious,
social and . athletic
activity. This year, in addition
to Miss -Faye Portner's course in
Comparative Religion, two new
courses have been introduced:
Discussions in Judaism (grade 10)
by Yehuda Rosenman; and Read-
ings - from Jewish Literature
(grade 11) by Ruben Selitsky.

the: supervision of Dr. B. Bene-
dict Glazer, with Rabbi Sidney
Akselrad as director; Mrs -.
Samuel Mendelsohn, student fa-

Opens Sept. 18 and 19

Bnai Moshe Sisterhood's
Opening Meeting .Monday

A thousand boys and girls
from pre-kindergarten age of 4:
to high school age of 17 will
return to their classes at Temple
Israel Religious School on Sat-
urday, Sept. 18, and Sunday,
Sept. 19, at Hampton Public
School, 18460 Warrington Drive.
Sessions begin at 9:30 a. m. New
pupils will be enrolled. Parents
are asked to come with their
children for enrollment.
The school is • under the per-
sonal supervision of Rabbi Leon
Fram. On the opening mornings,
he will greet the pupils at as-
semblies and will show stere-
opticon views of the architect's
pictures of the new building of
Temple Israel about to go under
construction. The stereopticon
machine is a gift of the Confirm-.
ation class of 1948.
Boy and Girl Scout troops
sponsored by Temple Israel
Men's Club and Sisterhood will
participate in the opening cere-
monies. They will present the
flags of America and of the State
of Israel.

continued his studies at the
Hebrew Theological College in
Chicago, completed his rabbinical
studies in Winnipeg, and was or-
dained by the late Rabbi Israel
Kahavonich of that city. He also
completed his secular studies and
received the degree of Bachelor
of Arts.
High Holiday services will be
chanted by Rabbi Katz, who has
a fine tenor voice.
