Jewish Credit Cooperative
Formed in Italy by JDC
ROME, (JTA) — With the help
of the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee, a Jewish credit coopera-
tive, the first of its kind in Italy,
has been formed to lend funds
to Jewish refugees as well as to
needy Italian ews. The maxi-
mum amount for loans has been
fixed at $5,000. JDC provided a
capital of $50,000 and local
sources supplied $6,500 in stock
purchases.

NEW YORK—A plan for pro-
viding security in old age for
orthodox rabbis who are mem-
bers of the Rabbinical Council of
America has been implemented,
according to Rabbi Morris Max,
executive vice-president of the
organization.
According to this pension and
insurance plan, monthly annuities
at the age of 65 as well as life
insurance are provided by the
congregations by the payment of
an annual premium for that pur-
pose.
The pension and insurance
benefits have been underwritten
by the Continental Assurance
Co. The plan is sponsored by the
Rabbinical Council of America,
Yeshiva University in New York
city, Hebrew Theological Col-
lege in Chicago, and Union of
Orthodox Jewish Congregations
of America.
