MR. AND MRS. JACOB KUSHNER will celebrate their 60th
wedding anniversary at a reception Sunday, Aug. 22, in the English
Room of the Park Ave. Hotel. Among those present wilt be their
eight children, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr.
Kushner has been in the fur business in Detroit for 30 years.

STASHEFSKY - MOSER: Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Moser of 2704
Taylor announce the marriage of
their daughter,, Esther, to Yisrael
Stashefsky, son. of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Stashefsky, of 2926
Richton, which will take place
at a home ceremony Aug. 22.
Both Miss Moser and Stashef-
sky are members of Kibbutz Five
of Hashomer Hatzair and were
active in Zionist activities in De-
troit. They have recently com-
pleted their term of Hechalutz
training at the Hachshara in
Heightstown, N. J. .
After a brief honeymoon in
the White Mountains, they will
assume leadership of a group of
Shomrim in Newark. -Within a
year, they plan to leave for Israel,
where they will join members
of their group-- at Ein Hashofet.

ZUCKER MAN-LEAVITT: The
marriage of Louise Leavitt,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses
A. Leavitt of Great Neck, L. I.,
to James R. Zuckerman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zuckerman
of this city, took place Aug. 15,
at the Hampshire House in New
York City. Rabbi Jonah B. Wise
performed the ceremony.
The bride, v‘rho was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
gown of ivory satin with a bouf-
fant skirt and a bertha of Chan-
tilly lace finished the long sleeved
fitted bodice. Her veil of fine
tulle was attached to a headdress
of matching lace, and she car-
ried a white satin bible with an
arrangement of white orchids.
Miss Janet Anzel was the maid
of honor and Dr. Alwyn V. Free-
man was his cousin's best man.
Besides the bridegroom's par-,
ents, Detroiters attending the
wedding included Mr. and Mrs.
Leo Zuckerman, Mr. and Mrs.
Sidney Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Alex-
ander Freeman, Mr. and Mrs.
John Ginn, Mr. and Mrs. Royal
Oppenheim and Sydney Jacobs.
Following a honeymoon in the
New England States and Canada,
Mr. and Mrs. Zuckerman will
make their home in Ann Arbor
where she is a senior at the Uni-
versity of Michigan, and he will
attend the Law School there.

ELSON-DURM: Mr. and Mrs.
Julius Elson, whose marriage
took place July 20, have re-
turned from their honeymoon to
Montreal, Quebec and New York
City. They are now residing at
the Wilshire.
Mrs. Elson is the former Lillian
Wurni,. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Max Wurm. Her husband is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Elek Elson.

A dinner and reception followed
the ceremony. Mrs. Herbert Blei-
berg, sister of the bride, was

riage of Mrs. S. Klein, daughter
I of Mrs. Rose Hecht and the late
Louis Citron, and Harry Roch-
man, son of Mrs. Yetta Rochman
and the late David Rochman.
The couple are now residing in
Shenandoah, Pa.

Youth Groups

Rabbi Isaac Paneth, one of the
leading Hungarian Orthodox
rabbis, is now residing, with his
wife and children, in Detroit, at
the home of his aunt, Mrs. Henry
Goodman of 3250 Webb.
A descendant of a noted family
of rabbis and scholars, Rabbi
Paneth has gained distinction as
a Talmudic scholar, author and
orator. Under +Nazi rule, he was
imprisoned at Bergen - Belson
concentration camp, where he
exerted every effort to ease the
spiritual anguish of his fellow
internees.
After liberation, Rabbi Paneth
returned to Hungary where he
was an executive member of the
central body of Hungarian Or-
thodox Jewry.
