JSSB Children's Department Cited By National Welfare Organization In recognition of its high stand- ard child care program, the chil- dren's department of the Jewish Social Service Bureau has been accepted as a member of the Child Welfare League of Amer- ica, national standard-setting or- ganization for child placement agencies. The League, which conducts annual reviews of its member agencies to ascertain that high standards are maintained, con- gratulated the JSSB on its execu- tive and professional leadership, the quality of its Board's trustee- ship, and the interest and train- ing of its staff. While the Jewish Social Ser- vice Bureau was commended by the League for its service to the community, Mrs. Charles Lakoff president of the bureau, pointed out that the agency depends on support from the community, both through the Community Chest Drive and through foster parents who provide the security of a home life for the child under the care of the Bureau. "The interest of the Board members," the League said, "is evidenced by the staff which they have provided to give ser- vice to the children, the contri- butions made to the agency and the thoughtful way in which the agency's program is evaluated. The quality of administrative leadership and staff deserves comment. Case record reading, individual conferences with the workers and staff discussion gave ample evidence that the case- workers were responsible social workers much interested in help- ing the clients of the agency and in improving their professional practice." Anydne who • is interested in participating in the JSSB child care program as a foster parent is invited to call Goldie Gold- stein at TR. 2-4080.
