David Koniaroff,
Degania Pioneer,
Dies in • Detroit

A severe four-week illness
which interfered with his plans
to return to his home in Degania
in the State of Israel resulted in
the death, on Aug. 12, of David
Komaroff.
Funeral services were held
Aug. 13 at the Chesed shel Emes,
where a large number of friends
and former co-workers joined in
paying tribute to his memory.
He is survived by his wife,
Sarah; a sister-in-law, Ida Kom-
aroff; two nieces, Mrs. S. Wesson
and Mrs. M. Wolfgang, all of De,
troit, and a nephew, I. Komaroff
of Los Angeles.
Mr. Komaroff was 62. Fourteen
years ago he went to Israel with"
his wife, settled- in the famous
colony of Degania and became
a leader in the labor movement
there. He mastered a new trade
—harness-making — and helped
his colony deVelop into one of
the most flourishing in Israel.
A year ago, Mr. and Mrs.
Komaroff came to this country
for a visit. During his stay here,
Mr. Komaroff advocated the ex-
pansion of the Jewish National
Fund and urged his friends to
assign insurance policies to the
JNF. Many Detroiters followed
his advice and wrote insurance
policies naming the dNF as bene-
ficiary,.
