visional Government of Israel
accepted the' truce in Palestine
because, as a creature of the
United Nations, it respects the
mandate of the international tri-
bunal."
"Israel is prepared for any
eventuality," he declared, "al-
though we enter into the truce
with the desire to see a perman-
ent peace established. in Pales-
tine. If the Arabs will renew
fighting they will find the Israeli
Army ready. We are confident
that the chain of victories of the
past week an be continued if
the Arabs insist on a military de-
cision."
Louis Segal, general secretary
of the Alliance, reported that
during the past fiscal year the
organization raised more than
$4,000,000 for the National Com-
mittee for LabOr Palestine, the
United Jewish Appeal, the Jew-
ish National Fund and other
Zionist and relief funds. A mem-
bership, drive with a quota of
35,000 new members was also
announced and will be launched
in September.
