THE PROPOSED TEMPLE ISRAEL BUILDING
At its annual dinnet meeting held at the Statler Hotel,
June 16, the congregation of Temple Israel unanimously ac-
cepted the building project proposed by Louis H. Schostak,
chairman of the building committee of the congregation.
Rabbi Leon Fram, 'spiritual leader of the Temple, led the
congregation in prayer for the success of its building effort.
The building plan consists. of
circular sanctuary or auditorium
of worship intended to seat 1700
people, flanked by a rectangular
building intended for social, cul-
tural and educational activities.
The building will be located in.

President Stutz announced the
appointment of a building fund
campaign committee, Consisting of

Citrin, Arthur J. Hass, Maxwell
H. Emmer, Jack 0. Lefton, the
president and rabbi, ex-officio.
The dinner was featured by the
presentation of a play by the dra-
matic group of Temple Israel High
School directed by Mrs. William
P. Greenberg.
HASHOMER HATZAIR OF DE-
TROIT announces that its sum-
mer camp will be held for three
weeks this summer in northern,
Canada near Waubimac, Ontario,
in conjunction with Shomrim of
Toronto. Because the camp is
run on a non-profit 'basis, the
rates are only $15 per week for
the period of July 5-26. There
are still a few openings for De-
troit youth between the ages of

A boys' choir will appear at
the day school graduation exer-
cises of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah
at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 27.
The function, to which the coin-
munity at large has been invited,
will take' place in the synagogue
auditorium at Dexter and Cort-
land, and will include an address
by Dr. Joseph Kaminetsky, lead-
er of Torah Umesorah.
There will be brief valedictory
talks and presentation of diplo-
mas to the following graduates.

Members of the Yeshivah who
attend the graduation exercises
will -be - presented with the an-
nual report of the institution
which combines the afternoon
Yeshivah and day school, and
will ballot for 18 new directors.
Rabbi M. J. Wohlgelernter will
preside. The board will meet sub-
sequently to elect new officers
and members of the administra-
tive committee for 1948-1949.
Monday; June 28, Beth Yehu-
dah summer session, a day camp
Program in a Jewish atmosphere,
will begin. For two months of
the public school vacation peri-
od, students of both the After-
noon and Day School classes will
have morning Hebrew sessions
five times a week, followed by
lunch at the Yeshivah. The after-
noon is devoted to recreational
activities.
The Day Camp session is di-
vided in_to four two-week periods.
There is, a $15 charge for each
period, to cover cost of meals
and transportation. Registration
is accepted at the Beth Yehudah

The 18th anniversary of the
First Galician Society of Detroit
will be celebrated at a dinner at
the Galician synagogue, 12517
Linwood, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday,
June 27.
Herbert B. Zussman, president
of the United Galician Jews of
America, will be present at the
dinner, as will Julius G. Feit, ex-
ecutive director of the organiza-
tion. Greetings will be preiented
by D. Naimark, L. Ellenbogen and
H. P. Weller.
Those who cannot attend the
dinner are invited to come at 9
p.m. to hear the guests' messages.

At the annual meeting, the res-
ignation of Rabbi Alvin M. Pop-
lack, executive director, was ac-
cepted with regret. Rabbi Pop-
lack, who directed Young Israel
activities for the past two years,
is,leaving Detroit to establish res-
idence in Brooklyn.
