Detroit labor Zionists will usher
in their annual project for the
Jewish National Fund at a rally
at the Shaarey Zedek social hall
on Monday evening, June 21.
Marked by the appearance of
Mrs. 'Archibald Silverman of
ProvidenCe, R. I., one of the out-
standing Jewish women leaders
in this country, as guest speaker,
the event will be utilized to honor
two local labor Zionist leaders—
Harry - Schumer and William
Hordes.
Mr. Schumer, who was ten-
dered the distinct honor of hav-
ing a forest planted in Israel
in honor of his 50th birthday,
will be presented with the
Schumer Forest .Certificate on
this occasion.

Mr. Hordes, this year's chair-
man of the labor Zionist JNF
project, announces that H. Ehren-
reich, director of the JNF labor
department, also will address the
June 21 event and that Pavel
Jewish Congress, Mrs. S_ilverman
has visited Palestine on many oc-•
casions since. 1925. Her daughter
and son-in-1a\w-, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Holzman, now are resid-
ing in Tel Aviv. Their exceed-

Mrs. -Silverman recently - was
appointed a member. of the Na-
tional,: Council • of 'American
Friends of the Hebrew Univer-
sity of which Dr. Albert Einstein
is chairman. Together with her
husband she has been active in,

Mr. .Schumer, who will re-
ceive his forest certificate Mon-
day, is Chairman of the Hista-
drut campaign and was success-
ful this year in boosting the
amount raised for labor Pales-
tine to $267,000. Last year the
campaign under his chairman-
ship raised $155,000. He was
re-elected vice-president of the
Jewish National Fund Council
on June 8. The Schumer Forest
will have more than 20,000
trees, a sum in excess of $30,000
already having been raised for
this purpose.
It was announced at the. JNF
Council's annual. meeting that
more than $4:500 already has
been raised for the Hordes Forest.
A minimum of 10,0.00 trees at
$1.50 each is required for the
planting of a forest in Israel.
