the AMERICAN JEWISH CON-
GRESS held a luncheon meeting
for incoming and outgoing boards
of all four chapters at Knollwood
Country Club June 10. In addi-
tion to a program planned by
Mrs. William Gottesman, plans
were made for an intensive mem-
bership campaign, to be headed
by Mrs. Charles Feinberg. An-
nouncement was • made of the
election to the administrative
Committee of the American Jew=
ish Congress of Mrs. Harry Frank
and Mrs. Irving Dworman.

Packages to Aid Girls

phanage and Asylum of Girls,
sponsored by the Council of Jew-
ish Women in Bucharest, Roman-
ia, this week, reports receipt of
packages containing food, cloth-
ing and medical supplies from a
number of Detroit women.
The letter acknowledged with
gratitude the food, clothing, vita-
mins and other necessities for
growing girls that have been
sent by Mesdames Eugene Arn-
feld, Abraham Cooper, Joseph
Fauman, I. R. Meyers, Alexander
Sanders; David Wilkus, Abraham
Srere and Henry Wineman. In
addition, the institution is receiv-
ing aid from Alpha Epsilon Phi
sorority. Mrs. Paul Broder is in
charge of the sorority's gifts.
"Although our institution is
supplied by Joint Distribution
Committee, Romanian section,
too, the idea of these ladies to
bring help, so far, completing the
necessary supplies, in such diffi-
cult circumstances, is wonderful
and touched us so much . . ."

Jewish Farmers from New Jersey
Donate Their Blood for Israel
FARMINGDALE, N. J., (JTA)
—A motorcade of 50 cars, flying
the American and Israeli flags,
went to New York with several
hundred Jewish farmers who
donated blood for Israel at the
Red Mogen David blood bank.

Fulfilling a pledge made when
their son, Leonard, was in com-
bat with the United States armed
forces during the war, Mr. and
Mrs. David Olshansky of Fuller-
ton Ave. will present a Sefer
Torah to Shaarey Zion Syna-
gogue this Sunday, honoring his
safe return.
The presentation ceremonies
will begin at 12 noon with a pro-
cession from Leonard's home, at
2668 Cortland, to the synagogue,
on Linwood between Cortland
and Sturtevant. /
The public is welcome to at-
tend the ceremony.
