JULIUS GREEN (left), president of the United Mezeritcher Re-
lief Society, is shown delivering a check for $2500 from the organi-
zation to ISIDORE SOBELOFF right), director of the Jewish Welfare
Federation. Witnesses to the presentation of the donation to the
Allied Jewish Campaign in behalf of the Haganah were MRS. PHIL-
IP FEALK, financial secretary, and NORMAN DAVIDSON, vice
president.
The club includes 26 couples who are interested in philanThropic
work. The group's major fund-raising affair this year was a cabaret
night May 2 at the Northwest Synagogue.

$36,389,700 Appropriated By
JDC in First Half of 1918
Announcing June appropria-
tions of $5,784,725, the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee reported
that ilk the first six months of
1948 it had allocated $36,389,700
for its relief, resettlement and

reconstruction programa.

Youth Groups

A cavalcade of cars will leave
this evening for Fresh Air Camp,
for the first annual Institute of
the Young Adult Council. The
young people will spend the
weekend studying the problems
of Jewish youth in relationship
to the American Jewish Com-
munity.
Discussions and workshop ses-
sions at the camp conference will
be led by outstanding personali-
ties including Daniel Brisker of
Palestine and Herbert Millman of
the Jewish Welfare Board.
One session will be a sympo-
sium on problems of the Detroit
Jewish Community, led by Isidore
Sobeloff, Oscar Cohen_ and Hei-
man Jacobs, executive directors
of the Detroit Jewish Welfare
Federation, Jewish Community
Council and Jewish Community
Center, respectively.
Recreational and cultural ac-
tivities will complete the week-
end program. The institute will
end Sunday afternoon.

To Honor Publication of
Emma Schaver's Book

The Council of Jewish Wo-
men's Reading Circles will close
this year's activities with an
Oneg Shabbat in honor of the
publication of Emma Schaver's
book, "Mir Zeinen Do."
Mrs. Schaver will be guest
speaker at the program, which
will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sat-
urday, June 19, at the Workmen's
Circle.
Community singing, reading,
and reports of the Council's ac-
tivities will complete the pro-
gram. Mrs. Henry Rosenbaum
will preside. All members are
invited to come and bring their
friends.
