Hadassah Starts Drive -for

.

Clothes, Linens for Israel

Preparations for the arrival of tens of thousands of
settlers in Israel has speeded the work ,of Hadasah for
the reception of these immigrants and the protection of
their health. -
An appeal has gone forth from national \ headquar-
ters requesting American Jews to contribute bed sheets,
pillows, pillow cases, bedspreads, towels, table cloths,
inuslins, etc., in order that all may be in readiness for
the newcomers.
Mrs. Harry L. Jones, president of Detroit 'Hadassah,
announces the appointment of Mrs. William Nelson, 2750
Webb, TO 7-0110, as Palestine supplies chairman to
receive these articles.
Among, the articles needed are clothes for infants
children 2 to 6 boys and girls 6 to 16,.men and women.
Only new articles and clothes are accepted in this
drive.-

Bnai Brith Hillel Foundation
at the University of. Michigan
climaxed its 21st year of activity
on the Ann Arbor campus with
its annual awards banquet May
16 at the Allenal Hotel.
Howard Freeman of Detroit
was among the students receiving
honor . keys for Hillel leadership.
Freeman was reelected president
of the Hillel Student Council for
1948-49, and also received the
Milford Stern Forensics Awards.
Other Detroiters honored at
the banquet included Mrs. Fran-
ces SOlovich, who received a
'Hillel Service Award.

of Jewish Women's Organizations
are invited to cottribtite displays
showing the . work of their club,
as part of the program for the
League's annual meeting to be
held Tuesday afternoon, June 1,
at Shaarey Zedek..
Mrs. Julian Grace, UN. 4-1534,
is in charge of the exhibits.
Mrs. Samuel B. Danto,. presi-
dent of the League, asks that
women attending the meeting
bring a can of milk for SOS.
The program of the afternoon
will include musical numbers by
the Northwest Sisterhood Choral
group; the movie "Make Way for
Youth," a play, "It's Crazy to
Reduce," by the Pisgah Women's
Auxiliary of Bnai Brith; presen-
tation of youth awards, and the
president's annual report.
