Memorial Day Services Arranged by
Temple Beth El, Clover Hill Cemetery
The annual Memorial Day ser-
vices of Temple Beth El will be
held at Beth El Memorial Park,
Six Mile and Middlebelt Roads,
on Sunday, May 30, at 3 p. m.
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer of
Temple Beth El and Rabbi Leon
Fram of Temple Israel will con-
duct the service, and the Temple
Beth El Choir will render the
music.
Annual Memorial Day ser-
vices of Clover Hill Park Ceme-
tery will be held at 10:30 a. m.
Sunday, May 30, at Clover Hill
Park Cemetery. Rabbi Morris
Adler will be the main speaker.
The musical portion of the pro-
gram will be by Cantor J. H.
Sonenklar and his choir. The

Installs New Officers
At Franklin Hills Club
At the annual meeting for
1948, held May 12 at Franklin
Hills Country Club, Mrs. Samuel
Blather was re-elected and in-
stalled as president of the Temple
Israel Sisterhood. Mrs. Samuel
Danto, past president of the Sis-
terhood and vice president of the
Michigan Federation of Temple
Sisterhoods, installed the officers.
Other officers are: Mesdames
Sydney Rosen, Sol Lunsky, Mor-
ton Snyder and William P.
Greenberg, vice presidents; Na-
than Kolb, treasurer; Benjamin

in tribute • to the European mar-
tyrs will be held at 1 p. m. Sun-
day, May 30, at the Chesed shel
Emes Cemetery.

Third Term as Head

Mrs. Abe Katzman was re-
elected president for a third term
by the Sisterhood of Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek at the
group's annual meeting Monday
in the social hall of the syna-
gogue.

Weekday Chapel

Plans have been completed for
a ceremony of the dedication of
a new chapel at Bnai David Syna-
gogue, Elmhurst at 14th.
The Chevra Ain Yakov of Bnai
David has assumed responsibility
for this new chapel, which will
be used on week days.
The dedication has been set for
8 p.m. Wednesday, June 2. Rabbi
Joshua Sperka will deliver the
dedication address, and dedication
services will be chanted by Can-
tor Hyman Adler.
• Following the ceremonies, a re-
ception will be held in the social
hall of the synagogue. The public
is welcome.

ed Sunday evening at Young
Israel of Detroit's 125th anniver-
sary dinner in the social hall of
Shaarey Zedek. The program
will • include short talks by
Charles T. Gellman, president,
and Noa Manthdbaum, repre-
senting the youth groups. Can-
tor Hyman Adler will be fea-
tured in a series of Palestinian
songs honoring the establishment
of new Jewish State.-
Guest speaker of the evening
will be Rabbi Solomon J. Sharf-
man, spiritual leader of. Young
Rabbi Julius Mark of Nash-
ville, Tenn., has been called to
the pulpit of Temple Emanuel,
New York, it was announced this
week.
Rabbi Mark is the brother of
Mrs. Harry Buchman of Detroit,
a leader in the Jewish National
Fund Ladies' Auxiliary.
An ardent Zionist, Rabbi
Mark was the highest ranking
Jewish Naval Chaplain during
World War II. He spoke here
several years ago at one of the
annual donor events of the JNF
Ladies' Auxiliary.
Flint Sisterhood Plans
Scholarship Luncheon
Beth Israel Sisterhood of Flint
will hold its second annual Torah
Scholarship Luncheon at 12:30
p.m. Tuesday, May 25. The
scholarship is beng 'given in
honor of Mrs. Israel Sandler,
president of the Sisterhood. _
The program will include a na-,
tionally-famous speaker and mu-
sical selections. Mrs. Morris Gold
and Mrs. Hyman Leff are . chair-
men of the luncheon.

published Jewish musical com-
positions. Rabbi Abraham L.

Jewish congregations or educa-
tional institutions wishing to use
them.
