The Allied Jewish Campaign already has secured a total of
$4,600,000.
An additional $1,600,000 must be raised to reach our 1948
goal of $6,200,000.
Nearly 8,000 more prospective gontributors are yet to be reached.
The balance needed for the quota is available—if the workers will
see all of their prospects.
Haganah in Palestine, DPs in Europe, newcomers to this coun-
try and the numerous local causes depend for their existence upon
the total success of the drive.
Let us go forth to total victory by making a success of this great
drive in this Year of Destiny for Jewry.

Under the supervision of the Zionist Council of Detroit, the Jew-
ish Community Council, the Bnai Brith De6oit Council and more than
100 men's and women's organizations, Detroit Jewry will express its •
solidarity with the Palestine Yishuv by celebrating the emergence of the
Free Jewish State in Judaea -- at 3 :30 p. m. Sunday, May 16, on Cen-
tral High School Field, Linwood and Burlingame.
Prominent speakers will adddress this gathering which will cele-
brate the end of Jewish statelessness, in spite of reported attempts by the
U. S. State Department to scuttle Judaea. 4
'AFL and CIO unions and numerous non-Jewish groups will join
with the Jewish community in observing Jewish Liberation Day.
All of our Jewish school children will attend the celebration as
a mark of unity with the • youngsters of Palestine who shared in the fight
for freedom.
It is imperative that every Detroit Jew should be present at Cen-
tral High Field Sunday afternoon .for this great demonstration. Let, it

at a meeting in Tel Avivitast month.

We have decided, relying on the authority; of the Zionist
movement and the support of the entire Jewish people, that upon
termination of the mandatory regime there shall be an end of
foreign rule in Palestine and that the governing body of the
Jewish State shall come into being.

The state which the Jewish people will set up in its own
country will guarantee justice, freedom and equality for all in-
habitants, regardless of religion, race, sex or land origin. It is
our aim to make it a state in which the exiles of our people are
gathered4ogether and in which happiness and knowledge shall
prevail and the vision of the prophets of Israel shall illumine
our -path.

At this hour when bloodshed and strife have been forced
upon us we turn to the Arabs in the Jewish State and to our
neighbors in adjacent territory with an appeal for brotherhood, •
cooperation and peace. We are a peaceful people, and we are here.
to build in peace. Let us then build our state together as equal
citizens, with equal rights and obligations, with mutual trust and
respect, each with a true understanding of the other's tie ed s.

Our laws are dedicated to defending the liberty of our
ople. If further trials and battles are in store for us, we shall
defend with all our might the achievement upon which we plat*
our hope.

Right is on our side. With us are the hopes of the past gen-
erations of our people. With us is the conscience of the world.
With us are deposited the testament of the millions of our mar-
tyred dead and the resolute will to live of the millions who have
survived. The sanctity of our martyrs and heroes rests upon us
and 'the God of our fathers will help us.

These are the men—members of Haganah—.
who are defending the Jewish State. Their
families are provided for by the Allied Jew-
ish Campaign. They depend upon the United
Jewish Appeal-7-major Allied Jewish Cam-
paign beneficiary—for their weapons. In
their honor, Jewry will observe Sunday, May
16, as Palestine Liberation Day.
