Walter Wakes Up
Walter Lippmann has at last spoken . . . He wants the Jews in
Palestine to live under an Arab king . . He was silent during the
many years when six million of his people were turned into dust .. .
He ignored the grave tragedy which had befallen the Jews we guess
just because he is a Jew himself . . . Remember Sir Herbert Samuel,
former Palestine High Commissioner, and Jesse Strauss, American
Ambassador to Paris when Hitler came to power? . . . They, too,
were leaning backward .. . Some years ago Lippmann was sitting
in a Broadway restaurant with other celebrities . . . In came an old
Jew . . . Recognizing Lippmann he marched over and asked: "Do
you remember me from the days when your father lived on Hester
St.?" . . . Lippmann wag' greatly embarrassed . . . Arthur Krock of
the New York Times. too, is Jewish but he tries to hide it . . . What
great moral heroes the Krocks and the LippmannS- are.

For the Record
At one of the UN sessions an Arab spokesman pulled a boner
while attempting to show that the Arabs had made every possible
concession .. . While searching for a simile describing the extent
of those concessions he compared the Arabs with the Parisian
lady who gave all she had . .. "I can only give what I have but no
more," he quoted the lady in the midst of derisive laughter . . . Rabbi
Abba Hillel Silver, who was the next speaker on the list, was about
to rise when one of his assistants slipped him a note reading: "Rabbi,
let the Parisian lady alone."
The recently convicted General Meyers is not a Jew . .
According to his own statement he was Methodist born and raised.
William Zorach 'was recently asked by. the Department of
Archives and History of the State of Mississippi to make a life-size
bust of the late Senator Bilbo . . . His reply*was: "I could not face
the world if I allowed myself to make a statue of a man who stood
for things that Bilbo stood for" . . . Mr. Zofach is one of our out-
standing sculptors and a Jew : . . His book "Zorach Explains Sculp-
ture" was recently published by the American Artists Group '. . .
The book was hailed as a most complete guide to the full under-
standing of sculpture. -
One of America's outstanding authorities on colonial art is
James Thomas Flexner, a Jew .. . He is the son of the late Dr.
Simon Flexner, famous for his research studies with the Rockefeller
Institute of Medical Research . .. His recent book, "American Paint-
ings: First Flowers of our Wilderness," published by Houghton
Mifflin, may well lead to a re-estimate of early American - art.

SUDDENLY RUNS ICE-COLD

IT'S TIME TO SWITCH TO

all the hot water you want whenever you
want it! An electric water heater, you'll

snow. It's completely automatic—and it's
absolutely safe . . . no flame . . . no fumes
. . . no soot.

est Edison office, your plumber's or at your
