Detroit section, National Coun-
cil of Jewish Women, will hold
its annual spring luncheon meet-
ing at 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 3,
at Hotel • Statler.
Installation of officers and an
original skit will highlight the
program. Mrs. William H. Frank
will accept the gavel from Mrs.
Herbert M. Smith, retiring presi-
dent.
Play directors are Mrs. Edwin
Rosenthal, Jr. and Mrs. James
Wineman. Musical director is
kIrs. Seymour Simons, and pro-
perty director, Mrs. Harold Ziv.
Accompaniment will be played
by Mrs. Royal Maas. Mesdames
Marjorie Hart, Joseph Radom,
Harold Schakne and Nate Schla-
fer comprise the cast. Mrs. Maier
B. Finsterwald is chairman of the
program committee.
Luncheon arrangements are
under the supervision of titre
chairman, Mrs. David Marx, and
co-chairmen, Mrs. Louis Lands-
berg and Mrs. Ralph Levy.

Dr. Norman Humphrey, asso-
ciate professor of sociology at
Wayne University, will address
the Commission on Law and
Social Action of the Detroit Sec-
tion, American Jewish Congress,
next Thursday evening, at the
home of Mrs. Murray Altman,
18491 Northlawn.
Dr. Humphrey recently com-
pleted important studies of
Mexican culture. In 'his address
Thursday he will review Carey
McWilliams' latest book, "A Mask
for Prejudice," which deals
with the growth of anti-Semitism
in the U.S.
Dr. Morris Raskin and Morris
Gleicher are chairmen of the
Commission on Law and Social
Action.

Jewish chaplain among the
French forces on duty in the
French zone of Germany has
been elevated to the honorary
rank of general. Previously, only
the senior Catholic chaplain held
a general rank.

ish Congress, Women's Division,

terest among key Detroit • per-
sonalities.

Division Wednesday, May 19 at
Masonic Temple, to honor Judge
Polier, are Judge Ira W. Jayne,
