Women of Dental Fraternity Plan
Staging Musical Comedy May 5

The Detroit Women of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity are
planning their theatre party, a musical comedy "The Liar", to be
presented at the Art Institute, May 5. The committee in charge, from

Handles Many Posts

Chomsky will launch. the spring
program of Masada Tuesday,
April 27, when each will preside
at a separate discussion of Zion-
ist life, to be held simultaneously
in four Detroit homes. The dis-
cussions will be a part of an
Oneg Pesach evening. •
Title of the proposed discus-
sions, "Is the Game Worth The
Candle", is taken from the final
chapter of Rabbi Milton Stein-
berg's "A Partisan Guide to the
Jewish Problem." - It . refers • to
a parable coined during the Mid-
dle Ages, when a game of chess
had to prove itself interesting
and diverting enough to be
wbrth the burning of precious
candlelight. -
Homes at which the programs
will take place are: Helen Kara-
benick, 2924 Webb; Sophie Shul-
man, ••1516 Chicago; Marge David-
son, 2918 Webb, and Bill Davi-
son, 1666 Chicago.

cil, Mrs. Aaron keeps tab on a
multitude of organizational facets
and policy problems. In addition
to this position—a full-time job
in itself—she is active in the
League of Jewish Women's Or-
ganizations and, in the year-
round Women's Division of the
Jewish W e 1 f are Federation,.
serves as corresponding •secre-
tary.
Mrs. Aaron has extended her
activities beyond the limits of
strictly sectarian organizations
and is a leading worker in the
Detroit Community Chest. Per-
haps because of her own two
daughters, she has a special sym-
pathy for young girls and takes
part •in Girl Scout work.
• A native of London, England,
Mrs. Aaron has lived most of her
. life in Detroit, where she has

.genuine affection among all
.groups for her sincerity, integ.
city and just plain hard work.•
Despite her community hon-
ors. Mrs. Aaron's greatest pride
•at this time is centered on Marc
Frederick pierce, her - week-old
grandson.

served by a - variety of local
agencies — Resettlement Service,
Jewish Social SerVice Bureau,
House of Shelter, Jewish Voca-
tional Service, Jewish Communi-
ty Center — all supported by the
Allied. Jewish Campaign.

Youth Groups

The basketball stars of JO-
SEPH L. BALE POST, JWV, de-
feated the Bengals, 34-24, last
Wednesday, to win the major
basketball championship •of the
Jewish Community Center. The
Bale cagers also won the Class
A City of Detroit - Recreation
League championship this sea-
son and were the top team in the
Jewish Center League. Their
season record is 36 wins and four
losses. The team was coached by
Jerry Wetsman, and included
such outstanding players as
Danny Arnold, Obbie Friedman,
Eli Kaplansky, Ted Bale, Bernie
Schneider, Murray Weiss, Marty
Taub, Louis Levine, Jerome
Manchel, Ben Weinberg and
Marvin Zisman.

12th St. Center Clubs

Aid Allied Campaign

The 12th Street Council - Cen-
ter is participating in the Allied
Jewish Campaign through sever-
al of its clubs.
The Happy Gang, a bOys club
led by David Rapport, is mak-
ing its own savings boxes. The
boys will contribute individually
to these boxes for two weeks and
will then supplement their gifts
with a treasury donation. The
Eagles, led by Lillian Sobel, have
similar plans.
The Friendly Club and the
Thursday afternoon Arts and
Crafts, under the direction of
Bea Kahn, will make posters and
displays advertising the Cam-
paign.

"Hell of the Middle Ages" will
be the theme of the next educa-
tional meeting to be held by
CHAPTER ONE, Zionist Organi-
zation of Detroit. Rabbi Irwin
Gordon, Wayne Hillel director,
will lead the discussion, which
will be held at 8:30 p.• m. Tues-
day, April 27, at the Jewish
Community Center. Plans are
progressing for a Zionist fund-
raising liberation dance to be
held Saturday evening, May 8,
at the Center.

AUXILIARY of Bnai Brith
Young Women on Thursday,
April 29, at the home of Shirley
Rose, 2724 W. Grand Ave. Ap-

served. Girls, 18 to 25, are in-
vited. This will be their last
chance to become eligible to at-
tend the formal dinner-dance for
paid-up members May 2 at
Northwood Inn. At this meet-
ing new officers will be install-

A meeting of the parents of
the Philadelphia-Byron Branch
of the United Hebrew Schools
took place Monday, April 12, at
which time a Parent-TeacherS
Organization was organized.
