40 YEARS AGO in Europe, a
brother...and sister tearfully part-
ed. . . to make their way in
other lands .. . They never saw
each other again . . until last
week . . . when the clock stood
still at the Staten Island Station
in New York and the two people
instantly recognized each other
• . . as they rushed into each
other's arms . . . Mrs. Sam H.
Rubin of 2940 Elmhurst, had gone
to meet her brother, Bert Sas-
sin, retired clothing manufactur-
er ... who had just arrived with
his wife from Johannesberg,
South Africa . . . They are now
in Detroit and will stay until
winter . . . to re-tie the strings of
life that 40 years of separation
have loosened in their memories.

Lunitz-Sonnenband Nuptials
Are Performed in New York

Miss Marilyn Lunitz and Ned
Sonnenband were recently mar-
ried at Riverside Plaza, New
York. Rabbis Herbert S. Gold-
stein and Elias Charry officiated.
Among the h no_-ed guests was
the "Grand Old Lady" of the
well-known Horowitz-Margaret-
en family, Mrs. Regina Margar-
eten, great-great-grandmother of
the bride.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Lunitz of
Germantown, and a grandchild
of Mr. and Mrs. Jecob Lunitz,
well-known New York commun-
al workers. Her maternal grand-
mother is Mrs. Benjamin Landau.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Sonnen-
band of New York. Both studied
at Penn State College.

United Service for New Amer-
icans—an Allied Jewish Cam-
paign agency—provides for the
settlement of refugees coming to
this country.

ing a period of illness and only
a death in the family kept her
from being on hand to see the
results of her toil.

the troupe wanted to rehearse

that time ... "Don't worry, chief,"
replied the manager. "He'll be
