vin Ring, intermediate. Follow-

Purim `Seudahs' will be fea-
tured by Select Social Club and
Los Angeles Telcove Club on
Saturday evening, March 27, at
the Center.

Mrs. Fred Patt, chairman of the
Jewish Parent's Institute, an-
nounces that the meeting of April
5 will have as its topic for discus-
sion "The Observance and His-
torical Background of Passover.'

defeated the Jackson Five for
the second time March 17, to
capture the championship . Class
A in the Detroit 'Recreation
Basketball League. Each player
received a trophy from the city.
Danny Arnold and Obbie
Friedman scored 30 points to-
gether for the Bale team. Season
record for the JWV post was 12
wins and one loss. The squad
also won the championship of
the Jewish Community Center
Major Basketball League.

Agers are invited to the Teen-
Agers' Festival this Saturday,

will be a Purim Skit Contest,

A Purim celebration, sponsored
by the Council of Mothers' Clubs,
will be held 'Wednesday evening
at the Center, in the form of a-
masquerade ball. James Ellman,
Mrs. Samuel B. Danto and Miss
Henrietta Robinson, will serve as
judges of best dressed masquera-
ders. The march will be led by
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Rubiner.

Miss Zager Gets Awards
For 109 New BB Members

At a ceremony sponsored by
Greater Detroit Bnai Brith Wo-
men's Council under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Pauline Goldberg, at
the Fort Wayne Hotel, on March
15, Mrs. Frances Solovich, nation-
al membership chairman and
Grand Council historian, present-
ed Lucille Zager, of Rabbi Zager
Bnai Brith Chapter, with the
Greater Detroit Council, District
and Hetty Bolotin Awards, and
lauded Lucille for her efforts in
bringing in 109 new members.
Mrs. Rose Stone and Mrs. Freda
Ersher were the other two sisters
from the Zager Chapter who were
recipients of citations for bring-
ing in new members.
Cited for Conservation in the
Zager Chapter were: Mrs. Caro-
lyn Lemberg, Mrs. Marion Saxon
and Mrs. Sara Schore.
Miss Fay Zager, Chapter presi-
dent, invites all to attend the
card party on Wednesday, April
at Bnai Moshe.

Palestine Resident
To Report to Central
Zionist Group April 1

Mrs. I. Hameiry, who has just
arrived from Palestine, will re-
port on living conditions in the
embattled Holy Land at the next
meting ofIhe Central Chapter of
the Zionist Organization of De-
troit at 8:30 p. m. Thursday,
April 1, at Bnai Moshe.
The technicolor film, "Assign-
ment Tel Aviv," narrated by
Quentin Reynolds, will be shown.
Walter Farber, program chair-
man, announces that the meeting
Will include community singing
and Palestinian music. Admission
is free.
David S. Levi, temporary chair- ,
man during the illness of Nathan
Shur, president, will preside and
will give a summary of latest de-
velopments in Palestine.

versity bill and a companion bill
to outlaw racial discrimination in
private non-sectarian colleges
were passed by the New York
State Assembly.

The University bill, and the
Pakula-Austin bill, providing for
the additional establishment of
community colleges with partial
state financing were passed 137
to 10.

Army Day observances, com-
memorating the date of Ameri-
ca's entrance into World War I,
and calling public attention to
the world-wide assignments of
the new regular army, will take
place again this year on April 6.
Civic and military groups, as
well as veterans organizations,
will sponsor parades, demonstra-
tions and exhibits to emphasize
the work of the current volunteer
army. Among the army's tasks
are occupation assignments in
Europe and the Pacific; garri-
soning-,:outlying bases; maintain-
ing supply lines to occupation
forces and bases; manning the
military establishment at home;
training young men in modern
technical skills, and conducting
important research and develop-
ment.
The Army enlistment goal is
21,000 volunteers each month.
