National Eme
in Palestine
For seven wejs, the Jews of Palestine have been under fire. They have withstood the onslaughts of Mufti-inspired Arabgangs
and other reactionary forces seeking to flout the decision of the United Nations to establish the Jewish State. These have been weeks of
heroism, but also of heavy tolls in human life and property.
The watchword of Palestine Jewry—led by the pioneer-workers organized in the HISTADRUT—is to stand firm, fight back
the
enemy, continue the job of colonization, receive new immigrants, build the democratic Jewish State.
HISTADRUT has mobilized its full force of 180,000 worker-pioneers to meet the National Emergency. Besides providing
over 70
per cent of the Haganah manpower, HISTADRUT is the chief producer of food, the carrier of
supplies to beleaguered Jerusalem and the Negev
outposts:Peaceful men and women workers of the collective settlements
have left their daily tasks to take positions along the lifeline of the
Jewish State.
