Mr. and Mrs. Max Schayowitz of Fairfield Ave. left Tuesday for
a month in California.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Blumberg of Manderson Rd. have left for a
stay in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hartman 'of Shrewsbury Rd. have returned
from Cleveland where they visited with their family.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Broder of Pennington Dr. have returned from
a few weeks in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey J. Rattner of Huntington Woods are visiting
in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Loewenstein of Fairfield Ave. have left for
Miami Beach where they will be guests at the Hotel Triton.
Mr. and Mrs. Nate Schlafer have moved from Whitmore Rd.
and are now residing in their new home at 19480 Canterbury Rd.
Mrs. Arthur Purdy and daughter, Ilene, of Chicago Blvd. have
returned from Florida, where they visited Mrs. Purdy's son, Edward,
who attends the University of Miami at Carol Gables.
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Cohen of Ephrata, Pa., are the guests of
their son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. David Benson of North-
lawn Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Isreal Davidson of Strathcona Dr. are spending the
winter months in Miami Beach, where they are guests at the Hotel
Martinique.
Marilyn Lieberman of Birchcrest Ave. returned Monday from
Texas, where she visited in Waco and Dallas with members of her
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Kramer of Stoepel Ave. have returned from
a few weeks in Miami Beach.
Ethelyn Keidan has returned to her home in Madison, Wisc.,
following a visit with her cousin, Judith Levin of Broadstreet Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lipson of Fairfield Ave. are guests at the
El Morrocco Hotel in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hartman and their daughter, Caroline, of
Edison Ave. are leaving Friday for Chicago where they will attend
the Bar Mitzyah of .Mrs. Hartman's nephew.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin- S. Rosenthal of Cherrylawn Ave. are
vacationing in Surfside, Fla.
Mrs. David Kallman of Canterbury Rd. is spending the winter
months in Miami Beach. Her daughter, Shirley, who attends the
University of Michigan, spent her vacation with her and Fruma
Brooks is planning to join her at the end of January.
Bernice H. Weisman of Buena Vista Ave. has returned from
Cleveland, where she visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Mager.
Feb. 28 has been set as the date for the wedding of Sara Sandra
Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jones of Elmhurst Ave.,
and Leonard Herman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Herman of High-
land Ave. Miss Jones is a graduate of Cass Technical High School.
Mr. Herman studied at Wayne University and is now a student at
Mezinizinger Art School.

Mrs. Hyman Waxman of Omaha,
Neb., announce the forthcoming
marriage of Mr. Waxman's
daughter, Esther Waxman, form-
erly of Detroit, to Michael Lewis
of Omaha. The ceremony will
take place Jan. 18.

Bette Mackey, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Abraham Mackey of
Woodingham Dr., and Maxwell
M. Feller of Minneapolis, Minn.,
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Feller, were united in mar-
riage Dec. 28 at the Northwest
Hebrew Cong. Rabbi Jacob Segal
and Cantor Pavel Slavensky of-
ficiated. Barbara Horwitz of Min-
neapolis sang "Sylvia," "Because"
- and "Always."
The bride was attended by her
sister, Mrs. David Gross, matron-
of-honor, and her sister-in-law,
Mrs. M. Mackey, the bride-
groom's sister-in-law, Mrs. Ben
Feller of Minneapolis, and her
cousin, Esterlee Fink of St.
Paul, bridesmaids, Her two-
nieces, Doris Sue Hystzer of
Duluth and Jeanne Elaine Mack-
ey of Detroit were junior brides-
maids.
Ben Feller served his brother
as best man, and the ushers' were
Maurice Mackey, David Gross
and Robert Hystzer.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her parents, wore
her sister's wedding gown of
candlelight satin, embroidered in
seed pearls, with a court train.
Her veil of bridal illusion was
held by a coronet of seed pearls.
She carried a Bible with white
orchids, lilies of the valley and
streamers. .
Dinner and a reception fol-
lowed the ceremony. After their
honeymoon, the newlyweds will
make their home in Minneapolis.
Out-of-town guests from
Duluth, Minneapolis, St. Paul,
Chicago and Lansing were pres-
ent.

The betrothal of June Sybil
Levine to Dr. Richard Kamil was
announced by her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Levine, at a din-
ner party at the Levine residence
on Highland Ave. in Middletown,
N. Y.
Dr. Kamil is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph G. Kamil of Leslie
Ave., Detroit.
Miss Levine now is attending
the William Smith College in
Geneva, N. Y.
The wedding will take place in
June.

YOUNG PEOPLE'S SOCIETY
OF SHAAREY ZEDEK will pre-
sent a symposium on the topic
"The Future of Democracy in
America" at p. m. Thursday,
Jan. 15, at the Synagogue. Par-
ticipants will be Rabbi Sidney
Akselrad of Temple s Beth El,
Theodore Baruch, Wayne Univer-
sity faculty member, and Arthur
Edler, director of the Worker's
Educational Service at the Uni-
versity of Michigan Extension.
The YPS is planning a "Snowball
Frolic," to be held Jan. 31 with
Paul LaVoie providing music for
dancing.

Meyer Heller of Hazlewood Ave.

their daughter, Blanche, to Her-

Gach of Monterey Ave. The
bridegroom - elect served 31
months in the U. S. Army, 18 of
which were spent in the Pacific
Theater.

Volunteers Still
Needed by SOS

Packers are still needed to
process food, clothing and
other comfort items in prepar-
ation for shipping SOS con-
tributions overseas, according
to Mandell Berman, Detroit
SOS campaign director. Vol-
unteers are invited to report
to the Acme Terminal Ware-
house, 6441 Hastings, any time
after 10 a.m. Sunday.
More than 500,000 pounds of
basic necessities Were collect-
ed in the one-day drive, Dec.
7, with 1,500 men, women and
children participating in the
SOS drive in the XU. S. Con-
tributions to this continuing
campaign of the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee have con-
tinued to roll in, and there are
Still hundreds of pounds to be
packed.
In the listing of participating
youth organizations, the name
of Young Israel was inadvert-
ently omitted.

Freidele Oysher
In Yiddish Play
Here on Jan. 20

An outstanding cast of Yiddish
actors will support Freidele Oys-
her, the eminent actress and sing-
er, when she appears here on
Tuesday evening, Jan. 20, in the
Scottish Rite Cathedral of the
Masonic Temple, in the new mu-
sical comedy, "A Chazendel far
Shabbos" ("A Cantor for the
Sabbath"), Abraham Lit tin a n,
sponsor of Yiddish theatrical
productions here, announced this
week.
Assisting Miss Oysher, who is
the sister of Moyshe Oysher, will
be the two eminent actors, Pin-
chos Lewando and Leon Schech-
ter, together with the following:

jointly next Wednesday.

Council, will repeat to the mem-
bers of the Northeast and North-
West Chapters his clinic on pre-
judice. South and Central Chap-
ters will hear . Dr. Lloyd Allen
Cooke, executive director of Na-
tional College Study of Inter-
Group Relations, who will ex-
plain how the Round Table Con-
ference of Christians and Jews is
sponsoring an inter-cultural pro-
gram in colleges.
