Norman Corwin Signed
For First Screen Play

Norman Corwin was signed
this week by Robert Rossen ' to
write the screen play for "All the
King's Men," Pulitzer Prize win-
ning novel which will be made
early next year by Rossen Pro-
ductions for Columbia, With Ros-
sen producing and directing.
Best known for his authorship
of "On A Note of Triumph," his
introduction of "Ballad for Amer-
icans" on the air, and for his
presentation of many other radio
dramas for which he has re-
ceived numerous citations and
awards, Corwin has collaborated
on two screen originals but has
never befote written a screen
play for Hollywood.
Bob Rossen's own activities as
producer and director on one big
production while working out ac1 7,
vance problems on several others,
not • yet announced, were the
principal reasons given why he
did not write' his own screenplay
on "All the King's Men," as he
did on other recent productions.
Bob's feeling. that Corwin will
be able to transpose to the screen
the same colorful and dramatic
writing he has done for radio
leaves him free, he says, to con-
centrate on his producing and di-
recting jobs. Rosser', by the 'way,
is one of the most brilliant writers
in the entire film industry.
