MRS. BESSIE WEISS, 77, died
Dec. 16. Funeral services were
held at the Hebrew Benevolent
Society. Interment was in Toledo.
Additional services were held at
the Zimmerman Funeral Home in
Toledo. She is survived by her
husband, Sam; sons, Samuel, Ir-
ving and Rubell, of Toledo; a
daughter, Mrs. Shirley Feinberg
of Toledo; nine grandchildren
and twe great-grandchildren.

PETER POMERANTZ, 69, a
noted scholar, died Dec. 16. Fu-
neral services were held at the
Hebrew Benevolent Society with
interment at Hebrew Memorial
Park. Rabbi Joshua Sperka offi-
ciated. He is survived by his
widow, Freda; sons, Joseph, Saul
and Harry; a daughter, Mrs.
Sarah Ehrlich, and seven grand-
cnildren.

brew Memorial Park. Rabbi
Joshua Sperka officiated. She is
survived by her daughters, Mrs

bensky and Alice, and oneigrand-
child.

Kufman Funeral Home. Burial
Was in- Machpelah Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, David; and
three daughters, Mrs.- Hyman J.
Ehrlichman, Mrs. Samuel Traison.
and Mrs. Henry Schore.

Mrs. Ethel Wiener, 60, of 2750
Sturtevant, died suddenly last
Saturday at her home. Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. Sun-
day at Lewis Bros. new funeral
chapel on Puritan.
Rabbis Adler, Gruskin and
Ninetraub officiated. Burial was
in Machpelah Cemetery. Surviv-
ing are her husband, Rev. Samuel
J. Wiener of Congregation Bnai
Israel; a. son, Dr. Israel Wiener,
and twc daughters, Pauline Can-
ner and Edith Deitch, and three
gl andchildren.
A resident of Detroit for 33
years, Mrs. Wiener had been ac-
tive in the Ladies' Auxiliary of
the Jewish National Fund since
its inception. Her son, Dr. Wiener,
is a former president of the JNF
Council.

NEW YORK (JTA) - In a
wire to U. N. Secretary-General
Trygve Lie, the American Coun-
cil for Judaism has asked that
the United Nations make clear
to the Jewish Agency that it does
not speak for all Jews.
The Council, taking cognizance
of the Agency's recent request
that it be heard by the Security
Council as representing the in-
terests , of the Jewish community ,
in Palegtine and Jews throughout
the world, stated that "our sole
representative before any agency
of the United Nations is the duly
constituted representatives of the
U. S. Government.
