Liptzin, chairman of the department of German and professor of comparative litera- ture at the City College of New York, will speak at the Jewish Community Center at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at a program marking the closing of the Center exhibit of photographs depicting "Nazi Extermination of Euro- pean Jewry." Under the guidance of Prof. Liptzin, a Yiddish department was introduced at N. Y. and re- cently, he was invited by the University _of California to in- troduce a course in Yiddish. Prof. Liptzin's talk will con- cern itself with the activities of the Yiddish Scientific Institute (YIVC) whose historical and so- ciological research has made marked contributions to the Yid- dish and Hebrew cultural life of the Jews. He is secretary of the YIVO Academic Council. On Dec. 28, the public will hear both Prof. Liptzin and Mendel Elkin, YIVO librarian, describe the background and meaning of some of the items on exhibit.
