Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lowell and daughter, Janine, of Chicago
are spending a few days with Mrs. Lowell's brothers-in-law and
sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Leo I. Franklin of Muirland Ave. and Mr. and
Mrs. Victor W. Klein of Stratford Rd.
Ernest Stix of St. Louis, Mo., is spending a few days as the guest
of his fiance, Miss Betty Levy, and her mother, Mrs. David J. Levy
of W. Boston Blvd.
Mrs. M. M. Wittelshofer of Boston Blvd. has returned from a
visit in Boston, Mass. Returning with her to spend the vacation pe-
riod were her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mintz.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ginsburg of Chicago Blvd. left on Wednesday .
for Denver, Colo., where they will visit their son-in-law and daugh-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Tatarsky.
Susan Klein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Klein of Chicago
Blvd., has as her guest for a few days her cousin, Warren Klein
of Lorain, 0.
Miss Maxine Finsterwald of New York spent a few days visiting
with members of her family. She was the house guest of her brother-
in-laW and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Steele of Monterey Ave.
Miss Marcia Ermann and her mother, Mrs. A. M. Ermann of
Merton Rd., are spending a fortnight in Cincinnati as the guests of
Miss Ermann's sister, Mrs. Joseph Ulman.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ziv, their daughter, Betty, and son, Alvin,
of Wildemere Ave. are spending a few days in Highland Pk., Ill.,
where they are visiting Mrs. Ziv's brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Milton Fish.
Mrs. Louis Smilansky and her daughters, Beth and Gail, left
to spend 10 days in New York and in New Haven, Conn. where they
will be the guests of her brother-in-law and sister,
Conn., and Mrs.
Herbert- Levy.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cohane of Highland Ave. are spending a
few weeks in Sarasota, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Schembeck of Monte Vista Ave. are leaving
this Friday to spend a week in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mrs. Edward Guggenheim of. Lincoln, Neb., is the guest of her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Katz of Burlingame

George Lieber of Lawrence Ave. is leaving this Friday for
New York to spend a week visiting with members of his family.

from a month's stay in Florida.

cago, where she visited her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.

Miss Jean Holtzman of Highland Ave. is spending a fortnight
in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. William H. Kaplan have returned to their home
in Westwood, Calif., after a visit with members of her family.

ing her brother-in-law and sister in Kansas City, Mo.

Detroit Chapter of Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity is' host
to fellow members at the annual conclave being held at the Book
Cadillac Hotel this week-end.

Roslyn Rd. are spending 10 days in Cincinnati and New York.
Miss Rebecca Schembeck of the Eddington Apt. is spending a
fortnight in Miami Beach and Havana.
Jack Perlmutter, who attends the University of Wisconsin, is
spending the vacation period with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Perlmutter of Fullerton Ave.
Mrs. Samuel Preston and daughters, Barbara and Judith, of
Monterey Ave. left on Sunday for St. Thomas, Ontario, where they
will visit Mrs. Preston's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Reuben Shepherd.
Mrs. Ben Zegman of Blaine Ave. left Dec. 15 for Los Angeles to
spend the winter with her children, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kleiman
and Prof. and Mrs. Alvin Sugar. She also plans to visit Mrs. Rudolph
Corwin (Rebecca Klayman) in San Francisco.
Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Schubiner and family of 2747 Leslie are
spending their four-week vacation visiting in Miami Beach, New
Orleans and Biloxi, Miss.
Renee Salon is spending her vacation from Brenan College 'M
Gainesville, Ga., with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Salon of Long-
fellow Ave. Their nephew, Kenneth Powell of 'Pittsburgh, also is
visiting here during the holiday season.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Harris and family of 18488. Hartwell are
in Washington, D. C.,attending the Bar Mitzvah of their nephew,
Marvin Paul Waronoff. From Washington, they will go to New York,
where they will attend the wedding of their cousin, Doris Grodkin
of Brooklyn.
Cadet Milton Conway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Conway of Oak-
man Blvd., is spending his vacation from St. John's Military Academy
with his parents.
Mrs. Harry Arnkoff and daughter, Susan, of Pontiac have left
for Normandy Isle, Miami Beach, for an extended visit with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kahn, formerly of Detroit. Dr. Arnkoff
will join them in January.
Frieda Frazer, a student at Michigan State College, and her
brother, David, who attends the University of Michigan, are spending
their vacations with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Frazer of

CCNY Professor to Speak at Center
Dec. 28; Program Marks Exhibit End
Prof. Sol. Liptzin, chairman of
the department of German and
professor of comparative litera-
ture at the City College of New
York, will speak at the Jewish
Community Center at 8:30 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 28, at a program
marking the closing of the Center
exhibit of photographs depicting
"Nazi Extermination of Euro-
pean Jewry."
Under the guidance of Prof.
Liptzin, a Yiddish department
was introduced at N. Y. and re-
cently, he was invited by the
University _of California to in-
troduce a course in Yiddish.
Prof. Liptzin's talk will con-
cern itself with the activities of
the Yiddish Scientific Institute
(YIVC) whose historical and so-
ciological research has made
marked contributions to the Yid-
dish and Hebrew cultural life of
the Jews. He is secretary of the
YIVO Academic Council.
On Dec. 28, the public will hear
both Prof. Liptzin and Mendel
Elkin, YIVO librarian, describe
the background and meaning of
some of the items on exhibit.
Rabbi Morris Adler will be chair-
man for the evening. , Isidore
Sobeloff, executive director of
the Jewish Welfare Federation,
also will • speak. AdmisSion is
free.

The bride wore a gown of can-
dlelight satin with a sweetheart
neckline, delicately traced with
seed pearl embroidery. The very
full skirt swept into a cathedral
train. The three-tiered veil was
held in place by a queen's crown
uf dueness lace.
Mrs. Michael Schuman was her
sister's matron of honor. Natalie
Goldberg was maid of honor, and
Lillian and Ruth Klau, sisters of
the bridegroom, were brides-
maids.
Bernard Morof was best man
and Seymour Matz, William Karp
and Jack Morof were ushers.
The newlyweds are honey-
mooning in Florida.

provided by Paul Lavoie's orches-
tra.
Feb. 25, 8:30 p.m.—Brother-
hood Week celebrated in con-
junction with the Sisterhood and
Men's club of the congregation.
A skating party and a hay ride
also are planned.
These affairs will be open to

Yivo Conference Jan. 17-20
The 22nd annual conference of
the Yiddish Scientific Institute-
Yivo will be held in New York,
Jan. 17 to 20. The opening ses-
sion, which will take place in
Hunter College Auditorium, will
be devoted- to the theme: "Fifty
Years of Jewish Social Move-
ments."

munity Council, at the forum
meeting of the Junior Service
Group, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan.
18, at the Jewish Center. His
topic will be 'What Good Is a
Law?"

of the discussion series, has in-
vited young Jewish adults to send
him suggestions regarding pos-
sible future topics or improve-
ments of the sessions. Sugges-
