Cabbage Cookery

Cabbage is the good reliable
member of the vegetable kingdom.
It is the food of scores of uses, as
every cook knows.
Here's a recipe ... a milchig
recipe . . . that takes cabbage out
of the class of the everyday-some-
thing-to-eat. This recipe lends a bit
of glamour to a vegetable which.
needs glamourizing.

Try

Scalloped Cabbage

(A milchig retipel

Slice-
1 small head cabbage.

Boil in a small amount of water
until tender-5 to 8 minutes. Drain,
saving water.

Melt-

2 tablespoons butter.
Remove from range.

Add, and blend-

1 /3

cup flour.

Add-
1 11-oz. can condensed cream of

mushroom soup
salt
pepper.

1 /9 teaspoon
1 /8 teaspoon

Add cabbage water to soup can.
Finish filling with water from fau-
cet. Add to soup mixture. Mix well.
Cook, stirring constantly, until
thickened. Combine cabbage and
soup mixture. Place in a casserole.
Bake in a moderate oven (350°F.)
for 30 minutes.
