Beth El This Friday

Hanukah will be celebrated by
Temple 'Beth El with a special
service at 8:15 p. m. this Friday.
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer will
preach on "The Effect of a Jew-
ish State on Jews Everywhere."
The Temple quartet and the re-
ligious school choir will render
program of Hanukah music.
The Annual Hanukah family
supper will be held at 6 p*, m.
Sunday, Dec. 14.
The religious school will ob-
serve Hanukah on Saturday and
Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14, with
Hanukah plays and parties.

Rabbi Fram to Start
Series of Sermons on
Palestine Next Week

In celebration of the UN decis-
ion to establish a Jewish state in
Palestine; Rabbi Leon Fram will
deliver a series of sermons on
"The History and Destiny of the
Jewish State," beginning with his
introductory lecture at the Sab-
bath
Eve service of Temple
Israel, Friday night, Dec. 19, in
the Lecture Hall of the Detroit
Institute of Arts, on the title

"Palestine—The Land That Pro-
duced The Bible."
Subsequent titles will be "Pal-
estine—The Land That -Produced
Christianity," "The Holy Land,"
"Palestine—The Highway of Em-
pire," "Theodor Herzl and the
Rise of Zionism," "Palestine in
the First World War," "Palestine
and America," "Christian Friends
of the Jewish State," and "The
Creative Spirit in the New Jew-
ish State."

Bnai David Children
Assemble for Holiday

Sunday, Dec. 7, the children's
assembly at the Bnai David Re-
ligious School was based on Han-
ukah. All children were given
candles to take home.
Sunday, Dec. 14, the regular
classes _ at Central High School
will be suspended and all chil-
dren will meet for a Hanukah
program at the synagogue.
The program will include a
brief service, community singing,
a Hanukah skit and celebration
of the decision of the United Na-
tions to establish a Jewish State
in Palestine.
