Hadassah Luncheons
For Members Listed
On Tuesday, Dec. 9

The six groups of the Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah will sponsor
paid-up membership luncheons
at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Groups participating, their places
of meeting, and programs are as
follows:
CENTRAL WEST—at Educa-
tion Center, Linwood near Bur-
lingame.
Program: Introduction of new
members by Mrs. Maurice Perl-
man; Candle lighting ceremony
commemorating Hanukah and
Henrietta Szold's birthday, led
by Mrs. Sidney Weiner; Movie,
"Forgotten Children," featuring
Youth Aliyah; Hanukah Songs,
led by Mrs. Seymour Krause.
CENTRAL EAST—at Belcrest
Hotel.
Program: Playlet, "Hanukah in
the Year 2010." Participating are:
Mesdames Walter Field, Gerturde
Leve Blum, and Harry Oberstein.
UNIVERSITY EAST—at the
Mayflower Congregational
Church,..7201 Curtis.
Program: Music Study Group
singing Hebrew melodies in cele-
bration of Hanukah; Dan Froh-
man conductor; Rosa Bassin Stein,
accompanist; Talk by Mrs. David
Levin, former head of Jewish
Welfare Bureau, Brussels, and in
charge of DP camps in Frank-
fort, Germany, on her personal
experiences. Membership welcom-
ing ceremony by Mrs. Herbert
Bloom and Mrs. Sidney Karbel.
UNIVERSITY WEST — at
Northwest Hebrew Congregation
Synagogue, Curtis 'and Santa
Barbara.
Program: Hanuk a h candle
lighting ceremony. Talk by Rabbi
Jacob Segal of the Northwest
Hebrew Congregation.
RUSSEL WOODS—at Rose Sit-
tig. Cohen Bldg., 1322 Lawton.
Program: Playlet, "Hanukah in
2010," written by Mrs. - Harry
Landsman, presented by Mrs.

Jr. Hadassah Lists
Budget of $70,000

Pledges and contributions in
the amount of $70,000 were made
at the national convention of
Junior Hadassah in Chicago.
More than 1,000 delegates ,and
guests, representing 20,000 mem-
bers throughout the country, at-
tended the - convention. There
were 10 delegates and 15 addi-
tional guests from Detroit.
The pledges, made after a re-
port by Miss Ruth Ludwin of
Hoboken, N. J., national Parestine,,
projects chairman of the organ-
ization, are for the Meier. Shfeyah
Building Fund, a $700,000 fund
for the expansion of facilities at
the organization's children's vil-
lage in Palestine.

Mr. and Mrs. L. Schwidkay of

Shirley, to Samuel B. Fried, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Fried of

JWV Auxiliary Plans
To Furnish Day Room
At Dearborn Hospital

A Department of Michigan
meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary,
JWV, was held in the home of
Mrs. Theresa 'Levy of Oakman
Blvd. to make plans to furnish a
day room for ambulatory patients..
at the Veterans Hospital in Dear-
born..
Holiday parties are to be given
for the patients of the Marine
Hospital Dec. 18, and for the
patients of the Veterans Hospital
in Dearborn Dec. 22, at which
time, entertainment, refreshments
and gifts are to be presented.
Gifts are . also being sent to the
Veterans 'Hospital at Murfrees-
boro, Tenn., which has' been
adopted by the Department.
Charles and Aaron Kogan Post
and Auxiliary entertained the
patients at the Dearborn Vet-
erans Hospital with a wrestling
match and smoker Nov. 11.
Lt. Raymond Zussman Post in-
stalled the following officers Nov.

Mrs. Samuel Kazdan of Chicago
Blvd., and Irving Siporin, son of

Oct. 18 at the Bnai David Syna-
gogue, Rabbi J. S. Sperka, Rab-
bi J. Rabinowitz and Cantor H.
Adler officiating.
Mrs. Samuel Columbus, sister
of the bridegroom, was matron of
honor. Arlene Kazdan, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor. The-
bridesmaids were Frances Kaz-
dan, Evelyn Primak and Sally
Weiselthier. Shirley and Betty
Kazdan were junior bridesmaids.
Carol Sturman was flower girl.
Seymour Ravitz was best man.
The ushers were Walter Siporin,
Myron Kazdan and Raymond
Zimberg.

Ball Feb. 28

The annual Military Ball of the
Jewish War Veterans will be held
at the Masonic Temple, Saturday
evening, Feb. 28.
This as an annual affair of the
Department of Michigan, when all
JWV posts and auxiliaries join in
one annual fund raising campaign
to carry on the Department's
hospitalization and rehabilitation
program. ,
The Department of Michigan,
Jewish War Veterans, held open
house at JWV headquarters on
Twelfth St., Nov. 24, where mem-
bers of all posts and auxiliaries
and their friends were enter-
tained.
The next meeting of the Jewish
War Veterans' Department Coun-
cil of Administration will be held
at 2 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at
JWV
headquarters on Twelfth St.
