`Tales of Yore' Great
Literary Contribution

The latest in the series of Jew-
ish Pocket Books,-the 25-cent
sellers-published by the educa-
tion department of Agudath Israel
Youth Council, 113 W. 42nd St.,
New York 18, is the fascinating
collection of "Tales of Yore: From
the Life of Rabbi Joselman of
Rosheim," by Rabbi Markus
Lehmann.
Besides the introduction, there
are four sections: •"Enter Rabbi
Joselman," "The Battle of the
Talmud," "Watchman in the
Night" and "Spanish Journey."
Each chapter represents an im-
portant chapter in our history.
The debates with Pfefferkorn,
Rabbi Joselman's intercessions
with the Emperor in behalf of
Jews whose lives ne saved, Rabbi
Joselman's activities among the
eminent men in Germany in de-
fense of the Jewish communities
are a collective presentation of
heroic defense efforts in -the early
part of the 16th eentury.
"Tales of Yore" is another im-
pressive contribution to Jewish
literature. The popularly priced
Jewish Pocket Books should, as
they undoubtedly will, gain a very
large circulation among English-
reading Jewries.
