Rep. Howard A.' Coffin, mem-
ber of Congress from the 13th
Michigan District, has been high-
ly commended by Congressman
J. K. Javits of New York for his
efforts in behalf of the Jewish
National Home in Palestine and
the Zionist battle before the UN.
In his letter to Congressman
Coffin, Rep. Javits stated:
"When you, together with oth-
ers of our colleagues, joinedt in
the letter of April 22 to the Sec-
retary of State and the U. S.
Representative at the United Na-
tions, urging a firm U. S. position,
and when we received the Secre-
tary of State's reply of May 5,
indicating no definitive U. S. pol-
icy respecting the consideration
of this question by the United
Nations Assembly, there was rea-
son to be discouraged. Subse-
quently, and on July 15, you
again joined with others of us
to urge United States action, and
again there was the same answer.
