months, since Pavel Slavensky-
Freilich, Czechoslovakian singer,
is in Detroit on a year's study
visa.
An accomplished opera singer,
Slavensky-Freilich also has made
a special study of Hebrew music,
an interest which helped pave

the way for his entry into the
United States. In. Prague, his
home town, he became friends
with Detroit's well-known artists,
Marguerite Kozenn and Julius
Chajes. The singer acquainted
himself with Chajes' Hebrew
compositions, and presented
many of them before European
audiences.
"It was primarily Mr. Chajes'
assistance that made my visit
to this country possible," Slaven-

sky-Freilich explains, expressing
his gratitude for the composer's
interest in introducing him to
Detroit musical and Jewish
circles.
