mark of the Wilshire Hotel and Mr. and Mrs. Max Lebow of Mus-
kegon are in Youngstown, 0., to attend the wedding of their niece,
Shirlee Zell.
Mrs. B. Kasselman of Richton Ave. is in Los Angeles visiting
her new grand-daughter, Joanne Paula, and her daughter and
son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. D. Stein.
Henry Hensche, director of the Cape Cod School of Arts, is the
guest of Mrs. Moritz Kahn of 1611 Lincolnshire Rd.
Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Mandel Solomon of 4056
Elmhurst, are invited to a reception from 8 to 10 p. m. Saturday
evening at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Modell, 18675 Wildemere, honoring the Solomons' 50th wedding
anniversary. Their children, Mr. and Mrs. Modell, Edward and Sam-
uel Solomon of Chicago, and son, Harry Modell of Detroit, are join-
ing in the anniversary celebration, which will include Kiddush after
Sabbath morning services at the D. W. Simons synagogue, and a
dinner for the immediate family.
An afternoon tea was given by Mrs. Max Spoon of Roslyn Rd.
in honor of bride-elect Shirley Jean Sutter of Hollywood, Calif.,
whose marriage to Ira J. Spoon will take place Jan. 6.
Estelle Plafkin will be hostess at a birthday party. honoring
Connie Gonek.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lui of Dexter Blvd. will celebrate their
25th wedding anniversary Nov. 28. The Luis have been residents
of Detroit since 1939; when they emigrated from Germany.
Honoring the 24th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan
Rothenberg of Sussex Ave., Mr. and Mrs. I. Taubman and Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Neuman entertained at a dinner party at Northwood
Inn Nov. 9.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry. Winernan of Hamilton Dr. left Thursday
for New Orleans, where they plan to spend 10 days visiting with
their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis.
Mr. and Mrs. Israel Himelhoch of the Whittier have been visiting
in New York.
Shirley Ann Phillips, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phillips
of Fairfield Ave., who is a student at Olivet College, spent the last
week-end in Cambridge, Mass., where she attended the Harvard
game.
Mrs. Emma Fecheimer of the Chatham Apt. has returned from
a month's visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar - A. Kaufman and their son, Seldon, have
moved from Strathcona Dr. and are now residing at 18052 Birchcrest
Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard N. Simons of Parkside Ave. left Sunday
to spend a week in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lewis of Whitmore Rd. left Sunday for
New York where they plan to spend a week before going on to
Miami Beach, where they will open their home for the winter.
Mr. and Mrs. Saul Rose of Boston Blvd. have returned from a
visit in California.
Mrs. Henry Lurie returned to her home in Columbus Sunday,
following a. visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
William Mazer of Birchcrest Dr.
Mrs. Emil Rose of Fairfield Ave. has returned from a visit in
New York. -
Mr. and Mrs. Max Lipsitz, their daughter, Ora, and son, Eliad,
of Beth Itzhak, Palestine, are residing at the Dryden Ct. Apt. on
Rochester Ave. while spending. a few months visiting with relatives
and friends.
Mrs. A. Anthony Fromm of Huntington Woods left Sunday for
a visit in New York.
Mrs. Samuel Munter of Indianapolis is the house guest of her
sisters, Mrs. Morris Higer and Miss Lulu Levy of Birchcrest Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathp Greene of Oak Dr. have returned from a
• visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Osher of Indiana Ave. have returned from
Oklahoma City where they visited with her family.
Mrs. Louis Tobin of Webb Ave. left Monday for New York
where she will visit with her daughter, Marcia, who is attending
the Manhattan School of Music.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Simons returned to their home in Beverly
Hills, Calif., Wednesday, following a week's visit with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ellman of the Briggs Hotel.
Mrs. Paul Broder of Pennington Dr. has returned from a short
visit in New York.
Dr. and Mrs. A. M. Bookstein of McLean Ave. spent the last
week-end visiting in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Barak have returned to their home in
Kalamazoo following a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. August
Barak of Hazelwood Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Al Keats- of Minden Ave. have returned from a
visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gunsberg announce the Pidyan ha Ben
of their son, Eugene Steven, Sunday afternoon, Nov, 23, at the home
of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gunsberg of 18995 Warrington
Rd. Open House from 2 to 5 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Wohlman left for Hot Springs, Ark.,
Ark. for a
few weeks' stay. On their way home they will stop off in
to attend the hide and tannery convention.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Osnos of Wellesley Dr. were week-end guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rosenstein of South Bend, Ind., where they
attended the Notre Dame-Army football game.

No. 661, received top honors at
the annual stunt night program
of Aleph Zadik Aleph Nov. 8 at
the Jewish Center.
Judges Max Kushner, Yehudah
Rosenman and Danny Raskin
awarded first place to the Sobole
chapter's skit. which was the
story of "J. the B. B." (Jake the
Bar Mitzvah Bochur), and in
cluded a number of original
songs.

POLITAN BNAI BRITH BOWL- Chapter 583 won third prize, and

ing and entertainment.

Center Expands
Youth Leadership
Training Program

A community-wide leadership
training program was discussed
at a meeting of representatives
of Jewish youth-serving agencies
and organizations Tuesday eve-
ning, at the Jewish Center.
A call to the meeting was
issued on behalf of the Center by
Harold Arian, assistant director.
While the Center is in the process
of expanding its own leadership
training plans, it has invited other
organizations in order to make
possible a community-wide pro-
ject.

MRS. JACK A. SILL
On Oct. 29, at a candlelight
ceremony in the ballroom of the
Wardell-Sheraton Hotel, Beatrice
Schatten, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph A. Sehatten of Free-
land Ave., spoke her marriage
vows to Dr. Jack A. Sill, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Sill of
LaSalle Blvd. Dr. B. Benedict
Glazer of Temple Beth El offi-
ciated.
The bride attended classes at
Wayne University and the Uni-
versity of Michigan. The bride-
groom is a graduate of the Wayne
University Medical College where
he is now associate professor of
medicine. He also is a resident
physician at Receiving Hospital.
The attractive bride came down
the aisle in a shiny white satin
gown which buttoned down to a
full bustle back. The portrait
shoulder neckline with its net
yoke was set off by a single strand
of pearls. Her linger-tip veil of
illusion was held in place by a
small crown delicately beaded
with tiny seed pearls. She car-
ried a bouquet of white roses cen-
tered with a purple-lipped white
orchid.
The matron-of-honor was Mrs.
Bernard Sill, the bridegroom's
sister-in-law. Annette Schatten,
sister of the bride, was maid-of-
honor. The flower girl was Joan
Sill, the bridegroom's niece. The
bridesmaids were Elizabeth Han-
cock and Shirley Rosen.
The ushers were Bernard Sill,
the bridegroom's brother, and Dr.
Safnuel Jacobson and Herbert
Goodman. The best man was
Dr. Howard M. Sherman.
Among the out -of-town guests
were the bride's aunt and uncle
from Cincinnati, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Marcus, and their daughter;
the bride's cousins, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Werbe and their son, Maj.
Edward Werbe, of Flint.
Dr. and Mrs. Sill left on a mo-
tor trip which takes them to
Chicago and along the southern
coast to California and Mexico.
They are expected home from
their honeymoon about. Dec. 1.

Detroiters to Take Part
In JDA Parley Jan. 3

Representatives
of Detroit
Jewry and nearby areas will par-
ticipate in the second annual Na-
tional Conference of the Joint
Defense Appeal to be held in
Philadelphia, Jan. 3-5, at the
Bellevue-Stratford Hotel.
Among those from this area
planning to attend are: Aaron
Droock, Rabbi B. Benedict Glazer,
Isadore Levin and Joseph M.
Welt of Detroit and Leonard T.
Lewis of Pontiac.
The JDA is the fund-raising
arm of the American Jewish
Committee and the Anti-Defam-
ation League of Bnai Brith. This
year JDA is driving towards a
national goal of $6,000,000.

In addition to representatives
of the leaders serving in various
departments of the Center, group
leaders ,and the staff of the fol-
lowing organizations met to out-
line plans: Bnai Brith Youth
Organization, Habonim, Hash-
omer Hatzair, Hillel Foundation,
Young Israel, Zionist Youth Com-
mission and Windsor youth
leaders.
Tentative plans for a week-
end training ,institute to be held
in the near future and for regu-
lar monthly meetings for all
leaders of youth groups were dis-
cussed by the representatives.
