We, the undersigned
Whole-heartedly support and indorse the return of HENRY S.
SWEENY to the Detroit Common Council because of his out-
standing public record which includes: 3 years military service
in World War I, 6 years service as Assistant Attorney General
of Michigan, 6 years as Judge of The Recorders Court in Detroit,
and 8 years as member of the Detroit Common Council.
- In addition to his fine record as a public servant, he likewise
performed many other valuable services to the community, not
least of which is the following:
) He was Chairman of the Committee
which drafted and presented to the
Detroit Common Council an F.E.P.C.
Ordinance; and fought vigorously for
a State F.E.P.C.

2)
He has advocated and strongly sup-
ported the Jewish struggle for a na-
tional homeland.
3)
He worked for the Stratton Bill to
admit 400,000 Displaced Persons into
the United States; and sought by Res-
olution and personal meetings, to get
the support of the State Bar of Michi-
gan for the Bill.
4)
As a member of the Common Council,
he led the fight which broke zoning
restrictions — thus permitting, when
ready, the construction of a Jewish
Hospital.
We personally urge YOUR support of HENRY S. SWEENY,
and respectfully solicit your vote on November 4th to return This
progressive, humane and experienced public servant to The
Common Council.
