For New Members

Senior Districts, Brides' Group,
and Career Group of Detroit
Section, National Council of Jew-
ish Women, are making a con-
centrated effort to gain new mem-
bers during a 15-day series of
home Parties, which will con-
clude Oct. 29.
Mrs. Ben Shwayder, vice-pres-
ident, has arranged a panel of
experts to discuss Council proj-
ects, and reply to questions of
new members. Addresses will be
given . by Mesdames Regene
Freund Cohane, Richard Freund,
William Grahm, Hershel Kreger,
Herbert Smith, and Leonard
Weiner.
Mrs. Harry Cohen, membership
chairman, and Mrs. M. L. Ro-
senthal, co-chairman, announce
that 1,000 invitations have been
mailed.
Mrs. Burt Friedman, chairman,
will preside at the`tea planned
by Central District. She will be
assisted by Mrs. Lawrence TWe-
baum and Mrs. Leo Mellen, co-
chairmen. The tea is scheduled
for 1:30 p.m., Oct. 28, at the home
of Mrs. Herman Marks, 1255
West Boston Blvd.
On Oct. 29, Mrs. Harold Zieve,
chairman, will preside at Uni-
versity East District's tea in the
home of Mrs. Lloyd Ivan Fran-
kel, 18644 Muirland Ave. Uni-
versity West District will also
meet at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 29, at
the thome of Mrs. M. L. Rosenthal,.

Pointe District has not completed
its plans for a meeting. The chair-
man will be Mrs. Louis Smilan-
sky.
Mrs. Edward Kahn, co-ordinat-
or of the education committees
of Detroit Section, National Coun-
cil of Jewish women, announces
a pre-election meeting to be held
Monday, 1:30 p. m. in the Jewish
Community Center.
Informal discussion on the
Marshall Plan will be led by Mrs.
Harold Schakne, chairman of the
International Relations Commit-
tee. A report on the housing con--
ference will be given by Mrs.
Oscar Schwartz, chairman of-
social legislation. Mrs. William
Isenberg, chairman of Jewish
Contemporary Affairs, will report
on the meeting of the Inter-Racial
Committee.
Mrs. Herbert M. Smith is pres-
