Detroiters Join Fight
For Bowling Fair Play

The establishment of a Detroit
Committee for Fair Play in Bowl-
ing took place at the Wardell-
Sheraton Hotel Oct. 17. The group
is part of a nation-wide protest
against the restriction of the
American Bowling Congress to
white players. Local committees
have already been established in
Buffalo, Cleveland, Minneapolis,
Los Angeles and Chicago, under a
national Committee for Fair Play
in Bowling.
Members of the Jewish com-
munity who are serving on .the
Detroit committee include Judah
Drob of the Detroit Tribune, Os-
car Cohen of the Jewish Com-
munity Council, Eleanor Wolfe of
the Michigan Labor Committee to
Combat Intolerance and Bernard
Hirsch, Jewish War Veterans.

A program of meetings for the
ensuing five months was present:
ed by the Intellectual Advance-
ment Committee of Pisgah Lodge
No. 34, Bnai Brith, at a meeting
of the executive committee.
On Nov. 3, John and Ruth Silo
will present an evening of Jew-
ish humor. On Dec. 8 the Fried-
mans, a nationally known, trio,
will present a program of Jewish
music.
On Jan. 18, Pisgah Lodge will
bring to the city Rabbi Bernard
Brickner of Cleveland. The Feb-
ruary meeting will be devoted
to a Father and Son program.
March 1 will feature Max Ler-
ner, editorial writer of PM.
The Intellectual Advancement
Committee is under the chair•
manship of Henry M. Abramo-
witz, with the assistance of Her-
bert Eskin, president of Pisgah
Lodge.

Delegates • to the Conithunity
Council, program chairmen of

panel discussion on Oct. 30, at
8:15 p. m., at the Community
Center on Jewish culture in this
country, particularly in our city.
The panel of three speakers will
consist of Rabbi Max J. Wohlge-
lernter, Wolf Snyder and Rabbi
Leon Fram. Rabbi Morris Adler
will serve as moderator.
The meeting will launch the
council's program in which all its
constituent organizations w i 11
take. part. The Community Coun-
cil's Culture Commitee, under
the chairmanship of Rabbi Adler,
is considering community-wide
celebrations of various cultural
events, . such as Jewish Book
Week.
The Jewish Community Coun-
cil pans to keep its delegates in-
formed as to the progress of the
pldh for making the American
Jewish Conference a permanent
