Its 20th Anniversary

Book Month Expected
To Find Big Response

Interest in Jewish Book Month
this year is mounting and a
record-breaking participation by
Jewish Centers, synagogues, and
fraternal and literary organiza-
tions is anticipated, according to
Dr. Solomon Grayzel, Book Coun-
cil president. He stressed that
1,300 Jewish Centers and other
Jewish groups had taken part in
the 1946 observance.
Jewish Book Month will • be
celebrated from Nov. 7 to Dec. 7,
and will be climaxed by a cele-
bration of Jewish Book Week,
from Dec. 1 to 7. The last day
has been designated as Jewish
Book Festival, coinciding with
he opening" of Hanukah.

The conclusion of 20 years of
service to the Los Angeles Sana-
torium and the launching of a
campaign for the "City of Hope"
at Duarte, Cal., were celebrated
by the Detroit Auxiliary of the
Los Angeles Sanatorium with a
dinner on Sunday.
The work of this group is de-
voted to help for tuberculosis
cases. Nathan R. Epstein is presi-
dent. The evening was under the
chairmanship of Julius Schwartz,
and Joseph L. Snitman was toast-
master.
Main speaker of the evening
was Rabbi Jacob Segal who
praised the efforts of the Auxil.
iary and urged the members to
continue saving lives.
