Open 8th Branch Stars in Young

ing at Congrega-
tion Beth Abra-
ham.
The first par-
lor meeting of
the membership
committee was
held. i n t h e
home of Isadore
Sosnick on Rabbi Hechtman
Broadstreet. The initial drive will
be concentrated in the Dexter
and Linwood sections. Breakfasts
will be held Nov. 9, 10 a. m„ in
the Bnai Zion and Mogain Abra-
ham Synagogues. . Members of
Congregations Bnai Zion, Petach
Tikvah, Bnai Moshe and Tuxedo
Holmur Talmud Torah will meet
in the Bnai Zion ,Synagogue,
Humphrey at Holmur and mem-
bers of Congregations Bnai. Jacob,
Mogain Abraham, Bnai Israel,
Shaarey Zion and Adas Yeshur-
un in the Mogain Abraham Syna-
gogue, Dexter at Cortland.
The membership committee
consists of Isadore Sosnick, chair-
man; Morris Snow, Jacob Nosan --
chuk, Philip Stollmari co-chair-
man, and David I. Berris, Morris
Subar, Sol Chinitz, Rabbis Isaac
Stollman; Joshua Spetka, Jacob
Hoberman, Max Ruzumna, Louis

CANTOR ARELE DIAMOND

19, at Music Hall, starring the
brilliant tenor voice of Cantor
Arele Diamond, accompanied by
a symphony orchestra, under the
direction of Sholom Secunda.
Young Cantor Diamond - now
holds the cantoral position with
Congregation Shomrei Emunah
in 'Boro Park, Brooklyn, and
broadcasts on radio station WEVD
twice each week.
A veteran of army service,
Cantor Diamond was stationed at
Pt. Lewis, Wash., and while there
,conducted high, holiday services
for the Congregation Bikur
Cholim in Seattle. .
The symphony orchestra is
made up of members of the De-
troit Symphony Orchestra who
have been engaged for this oc-
casion. Sholom Secunda is wide-
ly known as a conductor and
composer in the Jewish theatre.
The evening's program will
feature "chazoness," operatic
arias, music of the Jewish ctage
and Yiddish folk songs.

Kvutzah. Ivrith Reelects
Joseph Katz President

Kvutzah Irvith, Hebrew cul-
tural group of - Detroit, held its
annual election meeting under
the chairmanship of Joseph Katz,
president of Kvutzah Irvith. Re-
ports were submitted by S. Kas-
dan, secretary; Joel Cashdan, fit-
nance secretary; Michael Michlin,
chairman for the distribution of
Hebrew books; Mr. Toback, co-
editor of the Hed-Ha-Kvutzah,
and Mrs. Julius Ring, president
of the Ladies' Auxiliary.
The following officers were
elected: Joseph Katz-, president;
Sol Edelman, Kopel and Aaron
Teitelbaum, vice-presidents; Sol-
omon Kasdan and Norman Rut-
tenberg, secretaries; Joel Cash-
dan, treasurer; Morris Plotkin,
reporter; Hed-Ha-Kvutzah edi-
tors, Bernard Isaacs and Aaron
Toback; chairman of Book Com-
mittee, M. Michlin; chairman of
cultural committee, B e r,n a r d
Isaacs. Other members of his
committee are: K Michlin, S.
Kasdan, Norman Ruttenberg and
Morris Lachover. Chairman of the
finance committee is Kopel Pal-
man. The executive committee
consists of officers and chairmen
of all committees and also of
Abraham Schachter, Abraham
Panush, Morris Nobel, Joshua
Joyrich and Deborah Dworkin.

installed, will launch the career
of the first conservative syna-
gogue in Lawndale, one of Chi-
cago's largest Jewish communi-

Bnai Moshe announces the in-
auguration of a five-subject lec-
ttire series under the sponsorship
of the Sisterhood.
Mrs. Alex Fisch heads the co'rn-
mittee in 'charge of the series.
The schedule will open Nov. 25,
with the topic, "Jewish Customs
and Ceremonies from the
Woman's Angle in the Jewish
Home."
On Dec. 16 a leading authority
will discuss "Child Guidance."
The Jan. 6 topic will be. "The UN
Plans for the Future of Pales-
tine."
The fourth subject will be
"Jewish Cookery," including
demonstrations and recipes of
traditional dishes, on Jan. 20.
The series will bit, brought to a
close Feb. 3 with "Bible Appreci-
ation."
