Committee Completes Arrangements
For Fifteenth Annual Balfour Ball

Of Refugee's Experiences

The children above, who have just begun their
career of Jewish education at Temple Israel,
participated in the "Ceremony of the Blessing
of the Children" on Shemin' Azeret Oct. 6.
Their parents will be guests of honor at a recep-
tion sponsored by the Sisterhood of Temple -
Israel on Friday night, Oct. 24. The children in

Bnai David Women,
Men Compete in Quiz

Monday evening, Oct. 27, the
annual "Battle . of the Sexes"
will -take place when the Bnai -
David Sisterhood competes with
the Bnai David Men's Club in an
annual quiz program in the so-
cial hall of the synagogue, Elm-
hurst and 14th.
Mrs. Ben Fellows is in charge
of Ulf Sisterhood team, and
,Harry Pearson is in charge of
the Men's Club team. Prizes will
be presented to the winning team
by the Sisterhood. The public is
invited. .
The second in a series of the
monthly bridge teas sponsored
by the Sisterhood will be pre-
sented Thursday, Nov. 6, in the
synagogue social hall, when Mrs.
Joshua Sperka will review Bart-
ley Crum's "Behind the Silken
Curtain." Mrs. Morris Sandubrae
is chairman of the reviews.
The annual donor event of the
Sisterhood takes place Tuesday,
Nov. 18, and Mrs. B. Dosie is
accepting reservations.

NEW YORK — The poignant
experiences of a refugee child
during her first day at an Ameri-
can school will be related in an
Eternal Light script by Morton
Wishengrad, to be heard at
8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, on sta-
tion WWJ.
The radio play, entitled "The
Door," has been adapted from a
short story of the same name by
Howard Singer, which appeared
in the month's issue of "Common
Ground." Singer is a rabbinical
student at the Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary of America.

memorial meeting marking the
anniversary of the death of Rabbi
Meir Shapiro at 6. p. m. Sun-
day at Yeshivath Chachmey Lub-
lin.
Rabbi Shapiro was founder of
the original Yeshivah in Lublin,
Poland.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the
