J E R US A LEM, (JTA) 7- The
trial of Maj. Roy A. Farran,
British Army officer charged'
with the murder of Alexander
Rubovitz, 17-year-old Jewish
youth,. .came to an abrupt end
when the court dismissed the
case.
The • British military tribunal
ruled that inasmuch as no body
or pare of a body had been found
there were no grounds to' try
the defendant.
The trial of the British officer
who twice fled in an attempt to
avoid prosecution and who. was
extradited front Syria the . first
time and surrendered after -the
second flight, opened in an at-
mosphere free of tension.
Although the body was never
recovered, it is charged that Far-
ran and his accomplices killed
Rubovitz during. "questioning"
concerning his alleged Sternist
activities and turned his body
over to a group of Bedouins for
burial.
