n Pleads for
UNSCOP Solution

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N. Y.—Sensing the rising dangers to Jewish
hopes in Palestine as a result of pressure from Arab states ; whose strength
has been augmented by the admission of Yemen, Jewish communities through=
out the land have been flooding Washington, New York and Flushing with
telegraphic appeals to the American delegation to the United Nations Gen-
eral Assembly to support the majority UNSCOP report.
Thousands of telegrams have reached Seeretary of State George C.
Marshall at the U. S. delegation's headquarters, 2 Park Ave., New York City,
urging that the traditional American policy in behalf of a Jewish Homeland
should be upheld at the UN.
The powerful address in support of the UNSCOP rnajority report, de-
livered on Wednesday before the Ad Hoc Committee on the Palestine problem by Dr. ,

Maurice Bordelove, commander of the Michigan department of

the Jewish War Veterans, stated this week that more than 106
delegates are expected to attend the convention as representa-
tives of the JWV posts in the entire state. Meetings now are being
held to select these delegates.

Abba Hillel Silver, chairman of the Americ an Zionist Emergency Council, strengthened
the Jewish position and encouraged Jewish hopes.
It is expected, however, that during the coming weeks the verbal onSlaught on
Jewry and Zionism uttered by the Arabs will be cause for much heartache and dis-
illusionment.
The more practical Jewish leaders and observers are urging Jewry not to become -
panicky as a result of the speecheS of. Britain's Colonial Secretary Creech-Jones and
Jamal Husseini. Advice is given that Jews should expect the worst, strive for-the best and
hope for an amicable solution which is expected to result froth country-wide expressions
in support of justice for the Jewish position.

There is considerable speculation here with regard

to the position that will. be,..,t4kez by Russia on the Pales-
tine question. At Lake Success, Andrei Y. Vyshinski, in
an exclusive interview with Miss Beatrice Heiman, Jewish
Telegraphic Agency correspondent, declared that the
Soviet stands behind the position that was outlined at the
special session on Palestine last April by Andrei Gromyko.
The Russian stand may lead to support kir the - ma-
jority UNSCOP report, but in the event of a compromise,
which is not unlikely, there- may be a revival of a pro-
posal -for a bi-national state, as advocated by Dr. Judah
Magnes, who renewed his stand in a letter to the New
York Times, published on Sunday. As time goes on, there
is greater likelihood of a Compromise. •
In view of these developments, American Jewish
leaders have undertaken to mobilize American Jewry's
effort for the majority, UNSCOP report.

JERUSALEM, (JTA) .—It is learned her that Briiish
military' leaders believe that Haganah is prepared to take
over the borders of the proposed. Jewish State as soon as
the British evacuate Palestine. These circles believe, how-
ever, that Haganah will not have enough arms and Men
for the job unless the Jewish military force is aided from
the outside.
It also is reported that the. BritiSh have not decided
whether to turn the Arab state over to Husseini or King
Abdullah. When that is decided- they reportedly Will be
ready for the evacuation.

maintained by Mizrachi Women's Organization of America in 45
homes in Palestine. He is reciting the blessing over the Lulav during

Srkkot services. Mizrachi Women are sponsoring the erection of a
$750,000 Children's Village at. Raanana, Palestine, to house 500
Jewish orphans from European DP camps. All parties in Zionism are
Mobilizing their forces, for the expansion of housing- in Palestine for

newcomers who are expected to flock to the country, both as a result
of the threatened British evacuaion—which will force the immediate
admission of all detainees on Cyprus—and the pending decisions for
the opening of Palestine's doors to Jewish immigration in the pro-

- posed Jewish estate.
